When Doctor Charles McNider is blinded by a mobsters bomb, he decides to give up the practice of medicine. But when an owl crashes through his window at night he discovers that he discovers that he has the ability to see in the dark. He soon creates a special pair of infra-red googles that also allow him to see in the daylight as well. He then adopts the costumed identity of Dr. Mid-Nite and brings the mobster that blinded him to justice.
