This is probably a very standard question but couldn't find it anywhere in the forum.

If you find variants in the available data base covers, what is considered a significant variation and how would you get a variants added to the options?

Best Regards

I have been logging in my collection over the last couple of days, and have found what might be variants (i.e. cover header, no. and price in arranged differently). I had never notice until now, but the two issues I have are "same" issue # but the covers are different. Online there is only one option selection for that particular issue.

On another case there are several variants listed (differnet years, and two variants) but, another subtle difference, in the bar code block on the online version has a spidey pic, my version actually has a bar code.

I have seen on some of other issues the two choices (bar code vs pic) seem to be options.

Not sure how to ask, request, advise, help get them added or if that is even a consideration or possibility. I have a deep appreciation of the amount of options program has and seems one of the benefits is having a comprehensive list of even subtle variations that could lead or warrant higher value or interest.

Best Regards
Rich

CCL does not consider the different UPC boxes to be variants, unless there is a different price as well. If the actual art is different or if the title or text is different or if they are different printings then it's a variant. The books you mention are newsstand as opposed to direct sale and we do not consider those variants unless priced differently as already mentioned.

Thanks for the information and the welcome!

Even though the two mentioned (my original) cases are not variants, how would one get one added if someone found one and is there a place on here that explains stuff like that, that I am missing?

Best Regards and again thanks for the responses

Welcome to CCL, Rich. It's pretty easy to add variants or missing issues. Check out this thread for some step by step instructions.
