I've just installed CCL on a brand new pc with Vista. Hardly any other programs on this machine. I was trying to remove a large amount of titles from collection but after hitting the ok button on the Add/Remove titles, the program went to Not Responding. I closed it and have kept trying to reopen it but it gets frozen on the pop-up dialog box "Cleaning Database, Inactivated Issues, 7 of 12..." It always stops at this 7 of 12 action and stops responding.

I have tried to repair the installation through the control panel and gotten the same results.

Ok, first I think we need to figure out whether it's your installation or your database. Try moving the database (.sdf file) to another location. The program should see that it doesn't exist and create a blank one for you. If you still have the same problem, it's the installation. If that fixes it (other than not having your collection), the database is the problem.

Settle down beavis.

I think it's the installation because I was able to hide my databases in back up folders and create blank versions with a new install. The problem then comes specifically when trying to remove a title from the database after I've imported the backup.

Im having the exact same problem on both an XP and a Vista computer. I went and installed it on the vista computer and then opened it, everything was fine until I restored data from my backed up database and then tried to remove a few titles.

Try restoring a backup again, and then hit the update button before you do the remove. See if that helps.

I can't get that far. The program wont open. Whenever I try to open it, it performs updates at the beginning, and gets to the Cleaning Database segment and it shows Invalid Files and stopps at 7 of 12.

1. Put your data in a folder called backup.
2. Launch the CCL Program (it will build a new database)
3. When the program starts, click the check box so that it does not do updates at start up.
4. Import your data
5. Restart CCL
6. Now click the update button.

Did that work?

Had this same problem yesterday, followed the steps and I can now get into the system. Update works now manually and at startup, can I assume that my database is okay?

I have a backup from a few days ago and would lose some work, but I'd rather that and know it's okay than have it go bad again

Please advise,
thanks!
