I'm excited about this, and I'll probably be the only one excited about it. But it looked like, in the latest Previews that came out this week, that January 2010's issue of Green Lantern is gonna have the return of Parallax! And it didn't look like the creature Parallax, or the Kyle Parallax, or the half-creature/half-wannabe-Hal Parallax. Oh no, the picture showed Hal Jordan as Parallax. Whoo hoo!!! Arguably the greatest GL villain other than Sinestro is returning! I know it's at the cost of Hal, but who care, we got Kyle, Guy, and John to step in. And I'm sure all you that may be fretting about Hal's loss have nothing to worry about, he'll probably be back as the main GL by the end of the storyline. Geoff Johns run on Green Lantern has to be the most successful run of Green Lantern ever for DC, so why would they keep Hal away for a while again. -Nate-

I'm excited about this as well. Parallax is awesome. And maybe Johns brought him back only to kill him, and that was his plan all along. January is so far away and I have so many questions that need answers now!

Is this really "professional" artwork? BurningDoom wrote:I know it's at the cost of Hal, but who care, we got Kyle, Guy, and John to step in. A crappy loser that was only a half-assed attempt at drawing in younger readership and two second stringers - gee, I'm so excited! NOT!! I'll take this art over Humberto Ramos or any of that manga crap any day of the week! Can you do better?

This whole series ROCKS! I've been enjoying everything from the tie-ins to the promotional rings. This next twist is genius. Geoff Johns is throwing the kitchen sink at this thing and it's great.

ShenValleyInitiative wrote:Is Parallax what made Hal Jordan murder a city & snap Sinestro's neck before? Well, yeah, but in a different way than you said. Here's the full story: The Cyborg Superman & Mongul destroyed Hal's hometown: Coast City. That's what made Hal Jordan snap. He then made a B-Line for Planet Oa and killed any GLs he encountered on the way taking their rings for his own. When he arrived he killed Kilowog. The Guardians had no choice left but to free Sinestro, giving him a ring and promising him full freedom if he could defeat Hal. That's when Hal snapped Sinestro's neck. He then talked some smack to the Guardians and took the energy of the Central Power Battery as well as unknowingly bonding with the Parallax entity in the process. That's what created the original Parallax. He then used all that energy and power to try and recreate the DC Timeline how he saw fit. The heroes of the DC Universe united to stop him and repaired the timeline. Kyle Rayner finished the fight against Parallax. He appears a couple more times as Parallax and battles Kyle and friends again. But finally gives up all his power to reignite the dying sun, sacrificing his life to save the Earth. The end for the original Parallax. Hal then becomes the new host for The Spectre, which is a whole other story. Does that clear it up at all? -Nate-

My question is this.....with what just happened in GLC and the (I'm assuming at least) apparent repossessing of Hal by Parrallax, where does that leave the other 2 GL's of Earth? Would Johns have no Earth GL's for at least a brief time? Madness.

I have a theory on this: Due to what's happening in GL Corps right now, Hal will have no choice but to become Parallax again. The Black Lanterns are about to breach the Central Battery on Planet OA, if the Central Battery falls, then the GL Corps falls. If the GL Corps falls, then everyone else falls. Without the emerald energy to mix with the other energies of the other Corps, there is no way to defeat the Black Lanterns. So in order to preserve the emerald energy, Hal once again takes all the power of the Central Battery into himself, much like he did at the end of Emerald Dawn and Emerald Twilight. He then becomes an ass-kicking machine with the energies of Parallax at his fingertips, and saves everyone's asses from the Black Lanterns. This then leads into the next GL storyarc as the power of Parallax once again starts affecting Hal. Thoughts on my theory? -Nate-

BurningDoom wrote:Without the emerald energy to mix with the other energies of the other Corps, there is no way to defeat the Black Lanterns. Sez who? The indigo have destroyed black rings by combining their power with that of a GL so far, and have indicated that they need to combine their light with that of others but I don't believe they've stated that it has to be green light. The Hal Jordan/Parallax character had so much potential and power levels off the chart. Hell, he almost recreated the universe single-handedly! If it hadn't been for those pesky kids and their dog...
Antagonist.

Not trying to jack this topic, but how was it the Parallax entity was in the Central Power Battery? Was there ever an explanation? How was Kilowog, Sinestro and all the others resurrected? I apologize people, if I have anymore questions, I'll use PM.

The only answer I know is re: Sinestro. It was not Sinestro whose neck was broken by Hal/Parallax- Sinestro stayed in the Battery during that time. YNWA
