did you attend?

if so, what was security like? metal detectors?

just curious. i haven't been to a con in years (Heroes Charlotte when i was a kid & Wizard World Chicago in the late 90's) and i can't really remember what the security presence was like, if any.

in light of this morning's headlinesSad, i imagine comic con lines (not to mention movie theaters) could resemble the airport pre-boarding process.

I did attend, as did fellow CCL member SuperSoldier124.
It was pretty awesome.
Security was pretty non-existant - they had some folks at the entrance to the big sellers area to make sure everybody coming in had a lanyard, and there were people checking for your pass at the entrance to each panel. Other than that, nothing. You could easily get into the convention center and wander around freely without paying unless you tried to get into the areas mentioned above.
I'm sure this will change with next year's event though for many reasons including those you've mentioned.

It doesn't matter if it's 50 Cents or 50 Dollars - if you list it as NM it better be NM.

I seriously doubt the incident in Aurora will have any kind of effect on adding any kind of invasive security to all theaters and comic shows in the area. These large scale random acts of violence are extremely rare. So I wouldn't worry about going to a comic show and being patted down or going through metal detectors.

Agreed - I went to see Batman at the next nearest theater 2 days after the shooting and it was normal day-to-day operations.
Just because one idiot $h!ts their pants doesn't mean everybody should have to wear diapers.

I plan on being there, gonna use my income tax returns to get a vendors booth if they are still available. If not will at least go as a buyer.
Also plan on doing the comic-fest the month before.

"Get your Nerd ON!"

If you find a comic in my Inventory that doesn't have a cover scan or one in approval. Send me a PM with the issue name and number, and I'll give you $1.00 in store credit per issue!

If you can't find what you are looking for at my store try these AWESOME stores!
Alpha Comics, Comics Castle, Gryphon Comics and Games, Curious Goods & Comics II, EastBay Comics, HeroLand Comics, The Comic Book Stop,

I'll be volunteering again at the next one so it should be a good time. They're expecting a larger crowd and things should be better organized now that they've got a year under their belts.

I didn't notice any problems last year.
However, I did pick up my lanyard the night before at the MH party - I noticed the check-in lines were lengthy and a bit of a mess, but I didn't have to deal with it.

Yea, The lines were pretty long. The worst though were the people that paid for VIP passes. After getting in they then had to continue to stand in line to get all their free stuff. I know a lot of them were upset that they were in the same line as everyone else.

They've also announced quite a few more guests, the biggest being George Takei, George Perez and Eddie McClintock.

indeed, got the email last week but forgot to update this thread - first post updated.
Come on CCL sellers, I always see threads complaining about no cons to sell your wares - this one is relatively centrally located in the US and will have over 20,000 visitors!!!

Only 1 week to go and less than a week until Mile High's pre-party at the super store!

It's time to get your nerd on a mile above sea level.
