being introduced into the the MU. how do you feel about it?

i think they're gonna water the character down and make it a bunch of BS. im a spawn fan and i think its better leaving her in that universe.

Niel Gaiman probably feels there's more money to be made in the MU.

So what was the point of Gaiman spending so much time and money in litigation over creator's rights just to deliver those rights into the hands of another company?

It's not like she was the only angel in the Spawn universe, or did the rights include that whole group of Angel characters?

I like her better with the black around her eyes...

Than this...

But I'm still excited to see what they do with her. Hopefully she won't be a throw away character like Miracleman was who they made a big deal about acquiring and then did nothing.

That second piece of art looks almost like it was made for an animated feature, not an actual piece of comic book art. There just doesn't seem to be a lot of detail there.

The new design is courtesy of Joe Quesada.

I'm surprised. Quesada is usally in the other direction when it comes to detail. But then again, he's not a regular artist anymore, either.

I never was that interested in her after the original storyline in Spawn.

Heck, was she even in Spawn again after that initial storyline?

Free shipping is available on ANY order $40.00 and above. No minimum books necessary. Whether it's 1 book or 100 books. If it's $40.00 or more, it ships FREE!

Also, if you buy 10 or more $1.00 books, all the $1.00 books are 25% off. Effectively making them $.75 books! I've got hundreds of them!

Come take a look!

Hmmm..didn't we have a character in the Marvel Universe like her already? Is it me or does she remind anyone of Valkyrie? The character never interested me that much. At least my Spawn #9 will be worth more.

(referring to an original comic book piece) This is a art gallery my friend and THIS is a piece of art.

Elijah Price "Unbreakable"
played by Samuel L. Jackson

You just heard about this today? It was confirmed months ago that her big Marvel U debut would be in AoU #10.

I feel Gaiman just wants to milk this for all its worth all the trouble he caused at Image just to turn around and do this... But I always thought they should have done more with her so this could be fun if handled right

Hypnotized that's how you understood it? i must've been reading different sources. i was a fan of Spawn (& Angela) and followed the series up to about issue 115. i remember thinking that for all Image was doing for creator rights, it sure seemed strange mcFarlane would stop paying Gaiman for the use of the character.

i'll wait for the trade, i sure hope they do her justice.

IIRC, Neil Gaiman pulled off a major coup some years ago, negotiating with DC an unspecified but not insignificant equity interest in The Sandman. Of course, Gaiman has not been able to take The Sandman to a publisher other than DC; nevertheless, a point was made and a precedent was set.

Now, Gaiman has secured equity interest in Angela, this time through litigation. Perhaps he sees an opportunity to make another point, and to set another precedent. Taking Angela to another publisher emphasizes the point that a creator can take a publisher to court, after publication and without a prior contract, and prevail. If anyone has done that before, I can't think who it was.

As for who currently controls Angela: It wouldn't surprise me one bit, in a few years, to see Angela move from Marvel to yet another publisher.
