Does anybody have tips for protecting steel cover editions of comics? I don't want to put it in my comic box for fear of the cover getting flattened by the weight of the other comics when they shift. I'm considering using a comic binder, but I'm also trying to find some sort of rigid bag/sleeve that might cause less damage to the cover if something presses against it. What do you guys use?

Have you looked at Top Loaders? They are made from PVC and are very rigid and sturdy. There are a bunch of different sizes but I like the Golden Age ones because most Modern, Bronze and Silver will fit with a bag and board.

I'll get them direct from BCW but you can also find them on eBay and elsewhere.

I'm not certain what you mean by "steel covers." Are you referring to chrome covers, like the gimmick books from the 90s, or covers like DC's recent foil covers?

Valiant has put out a couple of brushed steel covers in the last few months. Maybe those?

Sorry for my delayed response , I thought I was automatically subscribed to topics I created so I wasn't aware of the replies until now.

Thanks for the top loader suggestion! I'll look into those.

To answer the other questions, I'm referring to comics like this http://www.comiccollectorlive.com/item/37982640-3917-435b-85c7-ccd1d8dab5b3/Neil-Gaimans-Teknophage-1-Steel-Edition-Cover

which is from the 90s and I assume it's actually chrome Big Grin I should've typed Steel Editions not covers.

yes.
I picked up a 5-pack on clearance at The Container Store a few years ago.
They're pretty awesome.
They'll hold a current/modern book that is bagged and boarded (because, you know: overkill and OCD).

I tried out the top loaders. These are great for protecting the comic from dings, but I still worry that it could flatten out the molded/textured cover since the front and back can be pushed together. I'm thinking about trying the mill case.
