Think this is a Brave and the Bold. First story is Batman and Superman fighting Sinestro titled, "Los Malvados Seran Destruidos" or "The Wicked Will Be Destroyed" and the second is a Deadman tale called, "Persecucion" (Persecution).

The publishing date is 1980, the writer is Bob Haney, artists are George Tuska and Vince Colletta. Deadman story is Len Wein and JIm Aparo.

Ring a bell?

I think it's that issue where Superman fights Sinestro.

I know that cover! It's from World's Finest (Superman and Batman).

I had to look up the exact cover, but it's issue #254.

Disclaimer, I'm going on the assumption that the cover is indicative of the material in the issue.

That is absolutely the one! I was so fixated on Bave and the Bold I forgot about World's Finest. D'oh

This comic is smaller in size than normal by about 1/2 inch on each edge. Judging from the cover of WFC #254 the only story reprinted here is the Superman/Batman vs Sinestro tale. Deadman is not mentioned on that cover so it might have been pulled from a different comic.

Hey Corey, looks like you have World's Finest #254 for sale. No rush, but when you get time could you do me a solid and check to see if there is a Deadman story inside titled "Persecution"? Angel Sorry about the wise guy comment! Big Hug

ComicbookDB doesn't list the Deadman story in WF #254 - http://comicbookdb.com/issue.php?ID=77413

There was a run of Deadman in Adventure Comics in the same timeframe. Three issues were by Wein and Aparo:
459 - http://comicbookdb.com/issue.php?ID=49191
460 - http://comicbookdb.com/issue.php?ID=49193
461 - http://comicbookdb.com/issue.php?ID=39523 (This story was titled "Pursuit")

Adventure #464 is Wein/Aparo (with Conway co-writing) - http://comicbookdb.com/issue.php?ID=41593

OK, according to the CCL item bio, #461 has a Deadman story called "Pursuit." I bet that's it.

Howie, are you able to post a picture of the Deadman title page here for comparison purposes?

Yeah, I was actually just getting ready to do just that!

Here it is:

I now think that the Deadman story is the one from Adventure Comics 461. The title blurb mentions the Circus and from what I can tell the story does involve crimes committed at a circus. Crimes including arson and murder!

Which reminds me, did you all hear about the fire at the circus? It was in tents. Big Grin
