Since everyone's good buddy Howie is not feeling up to running the NFL Pick'em competition this season. I will give it a shot. I realize this is real short notice as today is the first day of the season but here goes.

Just like last year, straight pick the winner, no bonus for underdogs. Pick one Lock Pick (no repeats of Lock Pick throughout year). Give total points for the Monday night game which will be used as a tiebreaker if necessary.

Thursday
Houston @ Kansas City

Seattle @ Atlanta
NY Jets @ Buffalo
Chicago @ Detroit
Green Bay @ Minnesota
Miami @ New England
Philadelphia @ Washington
Las Vegas @ Carolina
Indianapolis @ Jacksonville
Cleveland @ Baltimore
LA Chargers @ Cincinnati
Tampa Bay @ New Orleans
Arizona @ San Francisco

Sunday Night
Dallas @ LA Rams

Monday (give total combined score for the 2 games)
Pittsburgh @ NY Giants
Tennessee @ Denver

If Jeremy doesn't mind, I'll help out by tallying up the standings each week. (If everyone could double check their weekly records just to make sure I didn't screw up, I would appreciate it.)

MoonKnight was the winner this week with a 13-3 record, he was the only one to pick the Washington Football Team over Philadelphia. Crunchbird was the only one to pick Chicago over Detroit. Correct unanimous picks included Buffalo, New England, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, and Tennessee. Incorrect unanimous picks were San Francisco and Indianapolis (including two lock picks).

Week 1 Standings

Win/Loss

MoonKnight1 - 13-3 (81%)
jbeeman85 - 11-5 (69%)
crunchbird - 9-7 (56%)
lcfrick - 9-7 (56%)

Lock Pick

MoonKnight1 - 1 KC
lcfrick - 1 TEN
jbeeman85 - 0 IND
crunchbird - 0 IND

Prime Time

jbeeman85 - 4-0 (100%)
MoonKnight1 - 4-0 (100%)
lcfrick - 3-1 (75%)
crunchbird - 2-2 (50%)

Weekly Winner
MoonKnight1 - 3
jbeeman85 - 0
crunchbird - 0
lcfrick - 0

I appreciate it. You are more than welcome to take up the standings.

You got me listed as the weekly winner instead of Howie.

Whoops, I just copy pasted Howie's week 16 standings from last year and forgot to change the order of that category. Fixed now, thanks!

Thank you guys for stepping up and running this. I don't think I need to explain but I do want to explain why I bowed out this year.

It's not because of the name change although that was a very small part of it. It would be extremely petty of me if that were the only reason. No, it was way more than that.

This has been a tough year. Not just for me either as I'm sure everyone else has had their fair share of hardship in 2020. I'm sorry that I didn't reach out earlier to ask if anyone wanted to do it instead of me but I kept going back and forth with myself about whether or not to do it. Probably should have decided earlier that I wasn't going to do it or just gone ahead and done it.

Thing is that it has been exceptionally rough for me because on top of the virus I am also living in one of the protest hot spots. We have been having near daily riots (not protests, I know the difference) that have resulted in my city looking like a war zone. We have also been experiencing a spike in violence that has resulted in dozens of homicides, arson sprees and just general unpleasantness.

Not to mention that it still isn't 100% certain that the season will go forward without any interruptions or even finish for that matter. Just today I saw a couple of college programs cancelling games because of Covid complications. Hopefully that won't be the case but difficult to foresee.

I also lost one of my sisters a few months ago to a drug overdose and two of my cats were eaten by coyotes in the same month. Personal life has gone to hell because we can't hang out anymore. Colleen and I have been having our problems because we are both going stir crazy being kind of trapped in the house for the most part. I am usually a very upbeat and positive person but with all that has occurred it has been really hard to stay that way.

Combine all of this with the fact that business has been fantastic (not complaining about that at all - rare bright spot! Dancing ) I just didn't think that I would have the energy or will to do a good job of it. I definitely should have said something earlier and I sincerely regret that.

I absolutely appreciate you guys for taking it over for now and this past Sunday I was actually way more excited about the season than I thought I might be! Winning helped but even before the game I had some positive thoughts about everything.

Alright, I'm done being a downer. Y'all have fun watching Bengals/Browns tonight! I'll be tuned in. Liar

Yeah... I don't think it's possible to be much more of a downer than "Bengals/Browns".

Ultimately this is just a side thing that we all do, it's for fun with absolutely no stakes except bragging rights, so there's no reason to have any regrets about not thinking about it sooner. I'm glad to hear that business is keeping you busy at least.

I am happy that The Washington Football Team (The Fighting TWFT's!) won against the Eagles. However there were some areas of concern.

First, all of their scoring drives started in Eagles territory. Every drive that started on the wrong side of the 50 yard line ended up with a punt. Not a good sign. The only way that they could score was with the short field. That is not sustainable.

Second, the three running backs that they replaced Adrian Peterson with were - well, let's say Not Good. When AP was released Coach Rivera said that each one of those guys by themselves was far superior to what Peterson brought to the table. Nope. The Triple-Headed threat at the RB position ground out a total of 63 yards in 29 carries. That is a 2.17 yard average. Meanwhile, that old washed up, worthless guy racked up 93 yards on 14 carries which apparently averages around 6.6 yards per carry.

By the way, why didn't the brain trust coaching the Lions not give him the ball more? Hand it to him 20 times and you wouldn't have lost that game and I would have gone 14-2 on my picks. Angry

Third, our Safeties (Apke in particular) looked dazed and confused out there. If it wasn't for the D-Line hammering Wentz for most of the last three quarters things probably would have turned out differently.

This week against the Cardinals will be a severe test. Kyler Murray (the QB!) had 100 yards rushing. I know the stats say 91 but he kneeled down twice at the end of the game which cost him 9 yards. He threw for 230 yards and DeAndre Hopkins accounted for 151 of those on 14 catches. Murray can kill you with his arm and his legs.

Nailbiting Ooh
