YES, ONE DOWN, NOW LET THE DOMINOES START FALLING!!!!!!

OWNER, RON, CARSON, TURDY, MOST OF THE PR STAFF THAT CAN'T SPELL OR GET ANYTHING RIGHT!!!!!

I'm really hoping the new owner has his own OC already on retainer and fine print in the offer stopping Ron from hiring anyone or making any big trades, signings/contracts and Ron's just jumping the gun before the Monday meeting to give ST a chance to sign on with another team as a qb coach or maybe something in the XFL!!! I'm hoping we know who the winning bid is by Monday night and that he has a plan in place for the transition!!!

EXTRA BENEFIT, THAT SHOULD GUARANTEE HEINEY IS GONE TOO!!!!!! Dancing We don't need the distraction next year from the zealots!!!!

My offseason check list
NEW OWNER
NEW NAME
NEW STADIUM DEAL IN THE WORKS
NEW UNIFORMS
NEW HC
NEW OC (BOX CHECK IN PROGRESS)
ACTUAL REAL GM HIRED
OVERHAUL THE INTERNAL STAFF TO SOMETHING COMPETENT
FIRE THE DANCE TEAM
HIRE CHEERLEADERS WITH SAFETY PROTOCOLS IN PLACE TO KEEP THEM SAFE FROM THE PERVS
BBQ MAJOR TURDY OR RELAUNCH WITH THE HOGS APPROVAL/PAY OFF!!!
LEFT TACKLE
RIGHT TACKLE
DEPTH AT GUARD
RESIGN OR TAG PAYNE (I prefer TAG so he can show that he can perform at this level two years in a row. He was okay the previous years but needs to show it can be year in, year out and not just on contract years. We should have enough quality depth though no matter what happens to be alright.)
DEPTH AT LINEBACKER
UPGRADE CORNER
NEW KICKER WOULDN'T BE A BAD IDEA
REPLACE CARSON AND HEINEY WITH A CHEAP VETERAN AND LOW ROUND DRAFT PROSPECT IF ONE DROPS THAT HAS POTENTIAL
HIRE SOMEONE THAT KNOWS HOW TO DEVELOP YOUNG QBS
HIRE SOMEONE WHO'S GOOD AT DEVELOPING OFFENSIVE LINEMAN

Just imagine a world where we never see another jet sweep, a 4th and 1 with the qb off the line and players running sideways, no one overthrowing 6'6" tight ends, passing on 1st down occasionally, etc... Daydreaming

Quote:
Report: Washington will hire someone from outside the current coaching staff to be the new OC
I'm still hoping it's not Ron making the choice and he's just installing the new owners choice.

This combo seems interesting. Aaron Rogers and his OC together in Washington for one year while we wait for the new owner to get up and going.

Is it Monday yet?

It seems like Monday is going to be magic day if any are anytime soon. Ron meets with the owner/maybe future owners.

I'm hoping the deal is done and the new owners are already in agreement with Dan just waiting for the league stamp of approval in March or preferably sooner.

I'm hoping there's language in the deal that sets limits to what Ron can and cannot do without future owner approval.

I'm hoping this irritates Ron enough that he resigns Monday afternoon.

The general expectation is Ron on a leash for another year type of announcement.

In a perfect world the new owner would already have a GM and HC in his pocket on retainer ready to install instantly and they'd have a line on the next OC. I'm not opposed to leaving the defense coaching staff intact.

I also wouldn't be against Dan packing the whole team up and moving to London and Washington getting an expansion team to start fresh. They could even slide down a little to Powhatan or Chesterfield and go by the Virginia Hams. Shuffle the divisions again and make the NFC East NY, Eagles, Carolina, Atlanta and the Hams. I never understood how Dallas got into the NFC East to begin with. Think How can you expect kids to learn geography when the NFL can't figure out Dallas should be in the NFC South. Swap Carolina and Dallas, I'm open to Atlanta staying NFCS if it's a balance thing. Maybe another expansion team in Germany, one in Canada and one in Mexico since they seem to want to have games there all the time anyway. Just give them permanent teams and be done with it. The games got world wide appeal at this point and Dan's already living in England anyway.

GUARD BOX LOOKS CHECKED AND READY FOR RED.

Quote:
Former Giants OL Nick Gates is signing with the Commanders, per source. Goes to the division rival with a chance to play center again.

Gates made the amazing comeback from a gruesome broken leg that happened in Washington .
3 year deal.

Looks like a double dip if the center gets hurt a third year in a row.

I thought I saw something about Danny Johnson signing for CB depth.
Quote:
Washington Roster Update: CB Danny Johnson signs a 2-year contract extension

Tackle's the big one I'm hoping for soon. Some linebacker depth would be nice. Looks like starting corner is almost a lock for pick 16 in the draft.

It also looks like the Eagles lost a star on the d-line which is always appreciated.

Source: Former #Chiefs RT Andrew Wylie plans to sign a 3-year, $24M deal with the Washington Commanders, reuniting him with OC Eric Bieniemy. Wylie started 59 games in five years for KC and had the game of his life in the Super Bowl against Philadelphia. Now a nice payday.

Another lineman!!!!!!!! Right tackle I would assume which should push Cosmi to Right Guard.

The Commanders claimed CB Cameron Dantzler off waivers from the Vikings.

Dantzler, 24, was a 3rd round pick in 2020 out of Miss St. where he played with Montez Sweat.

Started 26 games with the Vikings, including nine in 2022.

Looks like cornerback depth is settled. This looks more like a depth signing than a change in plans from drafting a shutdown corner at #16.

Still waiting for news on the Kansas city Left Tackle, any decent linebacker and what the qb room is going to look like behind Sam. I don't see any team rushing to throw millions at Heiney which worries me he may linger and sign here cheap. Crying

If they don't land the KC LT it looks like the only other shot is hoping one of the few starting caliber ones drop in the draft. Pray I do value a great LT over a great corner any day ever since we lost Joe who may have been the last legitimate franchise qb this team had. Wall

Now a linebacker for depth or maybe replacement for Holcomb if they can't resign him.
Quote:
The Washington Commanders continue to be active during the NFL’s legal tampering period. They have reportedly agreed to terms on a 1-year, fully guaranteed deal with Seattle Seahawks LB Cody Barton. He played the third-most snaps by a linebacker for Seattle last season and he played the second-most snaps on special teams.

Falcons to sign former Commanders QB Taylor Heinicke

YAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!! No distractions for Sam from the Heiny zealots!!! I'm completely fine with a draft pick or cheap vet coming in to be the #2 and the other being #3!!!

Let's see what the O-Line looks like now.

Right Tackle from KC that knows Bemys blocking schemes.
Right Guard assuming Cosmi is moved over and parks instead of splitting time like last year so he can get good at one over okay at both.

Both players are interchangeable for the two positions but with the money the KC guy is getting it screams Tackle over guard.

Center, we have a good one with Roulier assuming he can avoid having any fat guys falling on the back of his leg again.

Left Guard is interesting. They just signed the guy from the Giants for what appears to be starting money. He also can double down as a snapper if Roullier gets hurt again. They also have the promising rookie Paul from last year that got to play in the Dallas game.

That just leaves turnstile known as Leno. He's going to be the hardest to replace. I'm still hoping for the guy from KC because there doesn't appear to be any better options as free agents and it doesn't look like any of the starting level draftee's will be available at 16.

Looks like a solid 4 out of 5 positions nailed down with a chance to shop for diamonds in the rough at the draft to develop and push them.

Looks like some of last years backups and Carolina reclamation projects are heading out the door. I'm not even sure sadiq Charles is safe this year if they get some good draft picks.

Washington Roster Moves: All-Pro Jeremy Reaves gets tendered; J.D. McKissic gets released

A little sorry for McKissic but he has been hurt the last two years and the RB room is stacked which translates to limited opportunities if they did keep him.

Nice to see Reaves on board for another year. Solid special teams player and nice depth to the backfield.

Mainly waiting for final word on Cole Holcomb & Cam Sims now. I believe this list is accurate for who's still unsigned.

OG Wes Schweitzer

C Tyler Larsen

Looks like Cole Holcomb is signing with the Steelers but at least they already picked up his replacement Monday in FA. That puts them back to needing some quality starting level depth but that shouldn't be out of reach with the draft coming.

Washington Free Agency: Jacoby Brissett is the Commanders newest QB

Signed from the Browns.

Quote:
Washington’s offense will look a lot different this year after three seasons under OC Scott Turner. Eric Bieniemy was hired to take over the offense, and he has already been making changes on the coaching staff and to the roster. Jacoby Brissett spent a year with the Cleveland Browns, and was their starter while Deshaun Watson served his 11-game suspension. Brissett went 4-7 as the starter and was 236 for 368 for 2608 yards with 12 TDs and 6 INTs. He also had 160 yards on the ground with 2 more TDs.

I'm still expecting another rookie drafted but this looks on first glance like an upgrade from Heiney.

Quote:
The #Commanders have re-upped with Efe Obada according to
@Rapsheet
. Could make up to $3M this year.

Solid backup signed. 4 sacks last year playing DE and DT.

It seems like the signing of Brissett has the fan boards in an uproar.

The general feeling is that he's an upgrade over Heiny but the Heiny fans are mad that Brissett is apparently getting more THIS year in guaranteed money than Heiny's getting from Atlanta. (Heiney's actual deal is with up to 20 Million incentives over multiple years)

Quote:
Like the Commanders, I am somewhat intrigued by Sam Howell. But I’m also a realist — he’s a 2022 fifth-round pick who played one game last season. The best thing the Commanders could do short of landing Lamar Jackson is get a veteran QB with upside. Brissett completely fits the bill.

Brissett played very well in Cleveland last season, with a 60 QBR that ranked eighth among all quarterbacks. With the same team, Deshaun Watson’s QBR was 38.3 (which would have ranked 27th had he qualified). At worst, Brissett is a bridge quarterback to Howell or someone else, a role he filled admirably in Cleveland. At best, perhaps his play with the Browns is a sign of more to come and Washington will be the beneficiary.

Quote:
I personally think he’s a better option because he’s basically the same from an completion standpoint, has a better TD/INT ratio, more game experience, is bigger which leads to less injury, is a better runner and a better arm.

So yea, I think he’s better. Plus its a one year deal instead of a two year deal which hopefully provides good cap flexibility next year with the hopefully new owner

Another large number of posters seem to be irate that we spent $8 million on a backup quarterback while letting Cole Holcomb and his mullet leave. That I don't get at all since we actually signed a fairly equal quality linebacker to replace Holcomb, Holcombs been injured two years in a row, might not clear the physical in time to play at his peak any time soon even if he does and it's not like there's going to be an empty space on the team not filled by a signing due to carrying a second string quarterback. They'll have the same number of bodies on the team in most likely the same number of positions anyway.

The linebacker position in general I don't really feel like we've upgraded yet since adding one and losing another of similar capability seems to leave us right where we were before except with a player with less of an injury history and a contract we can afford to pay. I'd still like to see a mid round signing to put a future starter on the team which seems like a reasonable expectation for the draft to accomplish. I think I read something about they only had 4 snaps in a 4-3 alignment last year anyway and seem to favor that 2-5 look with only 2 linebackers on the field and 5 db's which is a position we're getting loaded up in. I can see them carrying only 4 active linebackers each week again this year. 4 plays last year with 3 linebackers on the field at the same time doesn't scream overspend for someone to be backup and off the field most of the time.

The line hasn't finalized yet but it seems some people are penciling in Gates as #3 center? That's crazy for the $$ they paid. They're also showing Paul as backup Right Guard. I have a hard time believing they're keeping Andrew Norwell at Left Guard over Gates, Paul or a drafted high rookie option to be announced. There's also some talk of Leno getting moved from LT to LG if they sign or draft someone. Any way I look at it, the pieces appear to be shuffling into a better line than last years mess. There's also some questioning will Chase Roullier gets cut or recontracted. He's probably the best lineman on the team if he can stay healthy so I'd like to see him stay.

Quote:
Bengals signed Chiefs LT Orlando Brown

Appears Leno is now a lock to play unless a miracle happens in the draft. Broken Heart Here's Leno costing us Fitzmagic. He also almost got Heiny killed a couple times last years leading to fumbles at the goal line. The more I think about it the more I hope they find a way to move up in the draft and get his replacement.

Apparently we've signed WR Marcus Kemp which I haven't found any details on yet and made an offer to Cam Sims which he hasn't responded to yet.

Quote:
As an FYI: Washington has made an offer to WR Cam Sims (as we all expected). Just waiting to hear what he wants to do. Adding Kemp doesn't change how Sims can still help. Different roles on ST. Both help there. Both block well. Kemp: 4 career receptions; Sims: 57 career catches.

Quote:
WR Marcus Kemp
Kemp gets $1m on a one-year contract with a $50,000 signing bonus.

Kemp seems to have been signed as a replacement for Cam Sims, who had a cap charge of $2.59m last season, making the new guy look like a thrifty signing.

I get the feeling the drama from Free Agency is now over. Pressers today from the signings and it looks like the O-Line is not as settled as I hoped. New Right Tackle confirmed that he expects to play RT and Cosmi to move to RG. No surprise there.

Center seems to be shaking things up. Roulier seems destined to be cut. They signed Larson again to back-up the Center spot but Gates appears to think he's going to play center. That's 3 players for one spot and they can't all be #1.

Worse, that leaves Norwell at LG #1. Paul seems to be penciling in as backup for RG. Sadiq Charles hasn't been cut yet and is on paper for back-up LG.

Not even a sniff of a prayer showing as obvious for replacing Leno at LT.

They haven't rushed to announce or hire a new line coach either so it seems for now the entire line is still in flux!!!!! Someone needs to get in the door and start cleaning out the stink on the Left side and settling the depth on the Right.

No sniff of owner news this week either and the meeting with the owners is fast approaching. At Wits' End

That sounds great but how about some pictures and more details. I can't imagine billionaires carrying their own boxes. Someone, the janitorial staff at least must have more details. Are the pictures off the wall leaving those picture shaped clean spots behind? Desk, files and personnels cleaned out? Picture please? How many rooms does that include? The yacht is on the move again finally at least but did anyone see U-Hauls parked beside it ahead of departure? Seriously, picture please. Even pets have cameras nowadays. How hard is it to grab a selfy or quick peak?

In the wake of the Orlando Brown signing, #Bengals OT Jonah Williams has requested a trade through his agent Ryan Tollner, sources say. Just 25 years old with 47 career starts at LT protecting Joe Burrow, Williams becomes the top tackle available if Cincy is willing to move on.

I'm sure it's a long shot but as long as there's a starting LT out there I'm happy to dream of Leno being gone or moved to guard. Pray
