Lets see what the new OC didn't talk about and where it looks like we are.

Receivers, nothing needed here. If anything it looks like Curtis Samuel may be the odd man out with his production not matching his contract cost and Gibson able to take over most of what he brings to the table just as well. I would be open to a 6th if he was a great returner primarily. Gibson handled kickoffs great last year but a one guy who does it all great option like Brian Mitchell would be my preference. At least someone that upgrades the punt return game.

Tight ends. Logan Thomas is catching hell on the boards but how many times did the qb's flat out overthrow him last year? It seemed like almost every game at least one really bad throw to him when he was wide open and other times not even trying. Maybe with a retooled contract to lessen his impact this year he should get one more year to show he can stay healthy and continue to grow. The other need for blocking tight end looks well in hand with some young depth developing already. I can't see wasting a draft pick here unless it's in the late picks for a project since TE's usually take about 3 years to develop anyway.

Running backs, overstocked. I hate to see him go but McKissic looks like one we could live without if Buffalo still wants him. I don't see enough ball to go around to keep them all fed.

QB, Sam with a cheap contract and a lot of upside seems the sensible way to go for next year. Late draft pick if something falls into reach for #3 spot. #2 spot is the puzzle, does Heiney come back and will his fans be a distraction all year? Is there a retread vet worthy but willing to work cheap? Do they get lured to the dark side of the force and blow everything on a big ticket free agent ruining the team for years to come? Nailbiting

Line, your basic dumpster fire. In a perfect world there would be 5 new bodies. They have a good center when he's healthy but need an upgrade for when he's not and for the future to be developing. The other 4 can go but it really sounds like Leno at LT is going to end up staying and Cosmi might get moved to RG so at least 3 free agents and draft picks needed. I saw Charles made the presser today but he hasn't really shown out yet either when given chances so I'm not even going to miss him if something else can be found.

Guard is usually too high for 1st round draft picks and there may not be a starting LT left worthy so it's looking like 1st pick is corner back this year unless a top QB drops unexpectedly.

The saga of what remains a hypothetical Commanders sale has taken another noteworthy turn. Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos‘ name has once again come up in the discussion of the ongoing sales process.

Bezos has hired investment firm Allen & Company to “evaluate a possible bid” for the Commanders, as detailed by Mark Maske, Nicki Jhabvala and Liz Clarke of the Washington Post. That firm, based in New York, is the one which was involved in the two most recent NFL franchise sales (the Panthers in 2018 and the Broncos in 2022). Bezos hiring them represents a firm commitment to at least explore the possibility of buying the Washington team, something which he had previously only been speculatively connected to.

Are we there yet????

It's seems like every day a new story comes out about the bum and the state of something, frequently contradicting stuff that came out yesterday. Now it looks like we're the worst team in the league as voted by the players for everything except strength coaches?????? Apparently he's been gouging the league and investors for millions in "advertising fee's" for putting the logo on his plane, which if I understand the concept means it's only advertising directly to pigeons and ducks flying south.

Now it sounds like whoever wins has to have money to fix or improve pretty much everything. If he'd charge a little less for his plane logo, you'd think it would free up enough to hire a plumber to come snake out the shower drain before Hard Knocks gets the cameras in place. Loser

Now the confusion sets in.

Where did Dan find 60 million to put in escrow to lock down this deal when all the reports are screaming he's cash poor?

Does it mean there's more money available to be active in free agency next week?

Does it mean Dan's staying?

Is a deal done but not announced and they're actually using the new owners money for the escrow?

Confusion, more info needed.

(2 of 2) ….his deal won’t be reviewed for escrow purposes until the next review date which is Jan 31st, 2024.

So, whatever portion of the gtd $60M hasn’t been paid as of next year, that amt will be will be put into escrow.

Translation, the next owner 🤞will fund it.

Apparently it now sounds like Dan can let Ron shop and stick the new owner for the escrow payments next year. That's different than I'd read so far but makes free agency more interesting to watch this year I expect.

Are we there yet?

It really feels like this week coming up is the week.

News still trickling out, Michael Jordan selling Hornets and maybe bidding, more federal charges, empty offices that have probably been empty for a while now just getting headlines, yachts hitting the open water, no big dollar free agency splashes hinting there's someone other than Ron making the big calls, no money tossed at a new offensive line coach yet when it's the biggest area of need......................

Now they're even tossing out trade rumors jumping up to #5 in the draft even though the top 4 qb's could be gone by then which I'd be fine with if it landed the best Left Tackle in the draft instead. There should still be a decent corner available in the 2nd round to round out the draft.

Not posting a video yet after reviewing what I just recorded. Too couched. So let me just say this for now - multiple sources say a deal has been made. Just can't say 100% who it's with and not guessing. After 45 years in biz, I'm not going out that way.

Soooooo close but nothing official yet!!! Dancing

Ben Standig of TheAthletic.com reports that deals finalized in the past week delay the initial payment schedule. Instead of the first installment being due within 15 to 30 days after executing, the money is due roughly two months post-execution.

For example, the contract signed by defensive tackle Daron Payne provides, per Standing, for the first payment to be made by May 12, 2023. Quarterback Jacoby Brissett‘s contract also specifies that initial payment will be made by May 12.

This is a departure from the team’s past precedent. Given the circumstances, it suggests that someone else will be paying the signing bonuses.

Getting a little tired of breaking news that isn't bid accepted confirmations. Counting MJ that's at least two reports of two basketball players included in the bidding packages.

Depressing day.

Todays headlines are basically pushing the sale back until the next owners meeting in May and claiming Josh Harris is a cheap bastard that wouldn't even spring for 2 more lockers so all 15 players would have one on his team. Sick

Sounds like we're stuck with Ron running the draft again and it looks like even if Dan goes, the replacement may not be a crook but may not improve things much.

It's looking increasingly like a Lame duck season with the new owners not in place in time to do anything but fire Ron halfway thru the season if we aren't SuperBowl bound and they already have a history of starting slow every year.

2022 a waste not getting Sam any significant experience.
2023 make or break with a rookie qb going thru his learning curve and probable mistakes,
2024 1st year of the new coaches 3-5 year rebuilding plan
2025 maybe, playoffs, maybe not
2026 next chance at greatness and post season glory

And the wheel of misinformation/ one report contradicting another keeps spinning.

Quote:
The Washington Commanders have another billionaire interested in purchasing the team from owners Dan and Tonya Snyder. Adam Schefter is reporting that Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos has toured FedEx Field and the team’s training facilities in Ashburn, VA. Two other bidders are known(Josh Harris/Mitchell Rales, Tillman Fertitta) and Amazon founder has been rumored to be interested in placing a bid if the Snyders allow it.

So apparently this guy was trying to buy a basketball team from Michael Jordan but stopped to bid on the Commies which according to other reports, Michael Jordan is also part of a bidding package on. Think

you'd think if he's Canadian he'd want to move the team to Quebec or somewhere North of the Border the first chance he got, an idea I'm not really opposed to if we can't have our name back and the door would open for an expansion team to move into VA/DC.
