I watched Argo (finally) on DVD. I'll leave discussion of its cinematic merits to others.

There is, however, a significant comics connection that I almost didn't notice. A bit in the story involves creation of storyboard drawings for the fake movie, and the storyboard artist is briefly seen. Not until the closing credits do we get the artist's name, which is: Jack Kirby.

As it turns out (and as I may have been the last to learn), Kirby did produce art that was used in the Argo deception. Even so, I haven't seen any mention of Kirby's presence as a character in the Oscar-winning picture, and I think it's worth noting.

I read an article recently that discussed the history of the fake Argo movie. It apparently was based on an old sci-fi novel, and the movie version had been stalled in development for many years. Jack Kirby was commissioned at one point to do storyboards/concept pieces. It was later that the CIA hijacked the project to add legitimacy to the deception. So Jack wasn't really part of the ruse (from what I understand).

But still--that's pretty cool he was named in the credits.
