As long as all that origin/Smallville stuff is about as long as it was in the trailer... fine. But I have a feeling it's half the damn movie. And I'm still not sold on whatever the plot EmoSupes will face in the second half of the film.

Plus, I read the EW write-up in the Summer movies issue. Everything about this looks wrong.

The casting is wrong - Adams, Crowe, Zod-guy, Costner & Lane (Ma & Pa Kent should not be the sexiest 50+ couple ever).

The costumes look absolutely horrendous - Supes is bad even by New52's new dumb standard. Kryptonians looks like some kind of Game of Thrones meets Battlefield Earth rejects. And Adams does not pull of spunky intrepid reporter at all.

The little bit of plot laid out sounds somewhere between uber-emo Superman and Jesus Christ Superman. And there's nowhere in that spectrum that I can imagine an interesting movie being created.

Superman Returns failed because it was boring and trying to hard too be Superman V. This looks like it should fail for just being wrong-headed from the start.

AGREED!

This looks like all the BEST parts of the show Smallville with waaaayyyyy better production values and acting.

Russel crowe as Jor-el? Are you kidding me? That is an absolutely inspired casting choice. He will become the iconic Jor-El. People will forget about Brando. As is Costner as Pa Kent. Pa Kent is all about quiet dignity and gravitas...which is exactly what Costner plays perfectly in all his movies. (in fact, its about all he plays well at all.)

What about him is "emo"? Confused

If you're implying that he's whiney, it's kind of hard to decide that before you've even seen the film.

Based on the plot description in Entertainment Weekly of his "lost years" wandering the land like he's David Banner in the 70s Hulk tv show. Seemed like there would be a whole lot of navel gazing until things kick off.

I think the idea of Superman as "God" is a fascinating take for a movie. In fact, I dont think that angle has ever been taken in a superman movie/show.

Can't wait to see the battle between two kryptonians with modern special effects. That's what Superman Returns was really missing....a powerful villain. I think Zod has that covered. lol.

And....man, I can't wait to see Russell Crowe chew up the scenery as he argues with the Kryptonian council or whatever.

I must respectfully disagree. When i look at the roles she has played (and to acclaim), they all seem right in this very wheelhouse.

Each new trailer that comes out for this has me changing my mind more and more--I think it looks pretty good at this point.

It also looks like it must be three hours long. Which is fine by me.

Meh, I'll wait till it comes out for Home viewing, unless somebody pays for my movie ticket. I don't think I'd pay money to see this in theater.
