Shop at My Store
So I understand that the Superman Annuals started in 1960, but then started again (with a new #1) after the Byrne relaunch in 1987. But for some reason the database continues to number them from the 1960 start, so the Annual #1 from 1987 is actually #13 in the database, or '1' depending on what screen you're on.

So why don't we just have two entries for Superman Annuals? One would be Superman (1960), the other being Superman (1987)? We do that for all other titles with multiple volumes.

Joe always wanted all annuals under one title which is why they are the way they are. We finally convinced him to allow new annuals just as we do with new titles. Unfortunately the old stuff remains as it is until we get a means to merge information without causing more invalidations.

I see that this still hasn't quite been fixed...I've noticed it with Superman, Supergirl, Legion...

But an interesting question with the Superman annuals.

As we all know, Superman volume 1 (1940) ran up to the Byrne reboot, and got 12 annuals, before being retitled to Adventures of Superman. Then, Superman volume 2 (1987) got 12 annuals before the titles consolidated.

Adventures of Superman returned to just Superman, and the annuals returned. So the next one up was #13. Does that count as a continuation of "Superman Annual (1960)" or "Superman Annual (1987)"? Especially since Adventures of Superman has its own series of annuals that only got up to #9.

Since Annuals #13 & 14 were published after Superman returned to it's 1939 series numbering, I think they would go with the 1960 Annuals title (assuming such a title ever exists).
