Do you have a favorite number?
I have always been partial to 9. For one thing, it is the largest of the single digit numbers. Eight and below all look up to nine. 3X3=9. You never buy something for a dollar, or two dollars, or three. No, no - it's 1.99 or 2.99, 3.99. That's two nines in one price! It just sounds cool to say Nine. I also like 19 because when you say it you start with Nine.
I don't like 1 so much. It's a boring number. All straight up and down and it's easily confused with lower case l (ell) or upper case I (eye). You can always put the little head and feet on it but that seems like too much work. Having said that, I do like 11. You can turn it upside down and it's the same number and when you turn it sideways it's an equals sign. 11 equals =.
Not impressed with 2 either. Great, so half of all numbers in existence are divisible by you. Don't be so smug.
3 is cool. It is the first odd number other than, well, the first one. There are a lot of famous trios in history like the Three Musketeers, The Warriors Three and Huey, Louie and Dewey.
Don't get me started on 4.
As far as numbers go, 5 is actually pretty cool. Most people can count that high just by looking at their hand unless you're Jason Pierre-Paul, Mr. Met or Edward Scissorhands.
On to 6. Hmmm, do we even use six anymore? Not sure why we even keep 6 around to be honest. Maybe six should be retired.
OK, 7 has to be one of the coolest numbers there is. Just look at it standing there all aloof and confident. Suave and dangerous, Seven is all like, "Yeah, I'm lucky. But they didn't name the Seven Deadly Sins after me for nothing." Don't mess with seven.
Snowmans look like 8 so eight makes me laugh!
I'm not sure if zero is even a number (mathematicians and AI scientists are still having heated debates over this) but if it is I will stick with double-zero as my default setting. That's more emphatic than just the single ought.
Multiple digit numbers that I am partial to include:
42 - Because it's the answer to a question that wasn't properly asked; and Rule 42 is that all persons more than a mile high must leave the court.
99 - That's how many red balloons went by.
158 - I just like it, stop asking me why!
11 - Wait, did I already say eleven?
Wow, numbers are fun! Which one(s) do you like!
