I've noticed that when I scan an updated image for the database, the colors don't seem to pop as much as the existing image. Just not as vibrant. Nobody has complained about it, and maybe it doesn't matter, but does anyone have thoughts on this? Does the resolution quality have anything to do with color quality?

You have to do a little post production edit on the scan in the image gallery on your computer. Select the scan and click "fine tune", or it might be something else on older OS. Then "Adjust exposure"; add "brightness" and/or "contrast" accordingly. That should fix you right.
