GOKU (aka Son Goku, aka Kakarotto[Kakarot in the English])

First Appearance : Manga chapter 1 Dragon Ball episode 1

Created By : Akira Toriyama

History

He is a member of a fictional race of extraterrestrials called Saiyan. Due to the Saiyans' methods of systematically conquering habitable planets, he was sent to Earth as an infant to dominate it and make it suitable for sale on the galactic market.

When he learns of his true origin, Goku rejects this heritage, but later accepts it during his battle with the galactic overlord Freeza; Goku realized that the Saiyans were violent and destructive because Freeza forced them to be so, although the Saiyans did almost completely destroy the Tuffle race and take over the Tuffle planet, renaming it Vegeta. Due to an unusual trait in Saiyan genetics, Goku's physique almost perfectly mimics his father, Burdock.

Powers

Through constant training, Goku has achieved many abilities, such as super strength, super speed and the ability to fly using one's chi energy. Goku's signature technique is a chi energy blast called the Kamehameha, which he learned from Muten Roshi. Another signature technique of his is an attack that multiplies the user's chi for an instant, called the Kaio-ken, taught to him by North Kaio. Goku's most powerful attack is the Genki Dama, a sphere created by gathering chi energy, which he also learned from North Kaio.

Goku also learns a teleportation skill called Shunkan Ido, which he learned from the inhabitants of a fictional planet called Yardrat.

Goku is also the only Saiyan in the entire series to master all known Saiyan transformations. In the Dragon Ball manga and anime series, he was able to transform into a gigantic ape called an Oozaru, albeit after his Saiyan tail was permanently removed by Kami, he no longer could achieve this form.

In Dragon Ball Z, Goku is the first Saiyan to achieve the fabled Super Saiyan state in over a millennium. He ascended to Super Saiyan after being overcome with rage by the murder of Kuririn by the hand of Freeza.

Eventually, Goku masters every aspect of Super Saiyan in order to combat Cell, and accomplishes both Super Saiyan 2 and Super Saiyan 3 during his training in the Otherworld. In Dragon Ball GT, he achieves the final Saiyan transformation called Super Saiyan 4.

Can we do manga on this board. Or include it in CCL. That would be kinda awesome. I'd like some DBZ or Death Note discussions. And who doesn't love Goku

I remember reading those comics, they were pretty awesome. And Goku is one of my favorite characters in comics, tv, etc.

Too bad the movie is looking kinda week. It seems like
hollywood is turning DBZ into some kind of high school drama.

I'd say Goku and Superman are the two most powerful characters in all fiction.

Goku is amazing. Just got the third season of DBZ and watched the episode where he first goes Super Sayan. Great, dominates Frieza.
