I am and it sucks. Then again, I'm not a Warren Ellis fan. Those who like Ellis seem to like it. I've enjoyed the art, but overall, I say save your cash.

I like Warren Ellis! 1-24 plus the special was real good... I haven't read the current storyline by Ellis yet... I am way behind in my X-books reading... like Messiah Complex far behind... I was annoyed that Whedon used a special to end the run! I waited forever till I thought his run was ending in issue 24, then I sat down and read issues 13-24 only to find out I had to wait 2 months for the $4.99 special!!!!! It was good though!

Oh...to clarify...the Whedon/Cassaday issues were AWESOME. Pick them up. The Ellis issues are the ones that suck.

I like the title, but mostly I liked the last story arc because I'm a Forge fan. It's not the best X-title anymore since Whedon left, but it's not that bad in my opinion.

I am a Warren Ellis fan but his run on Astonishing sucks big time.I only got 3 or 4 issues in and dropped the title quick.Oh and don't even think of buying the 2 issues of Ghost Box.The directions on the back of a bottle of shampoo are more interesting and at least make sense.

I agree whole heartily with you on Ellis'es AXM, but I liked Ghost Box. the concept was mildly interesting and Andi Granov made issue 1 worth every cent! I love that guys work!

I read that like, "WTF is this even supposed to be?" Then I went back to my shampoo bottle.

I read the first few issues of Warren Ellis' run on Astonishing. It was ok. But it was the art that made it for me. I dropped it 5/6 issues after he started his run though, I was just hanging in for the art, not the writing. So I dropped it.

I've always enjoyed Ellis' writing. I think one of the biggest problems with his Astonishing was it being Bi-monthly. It was a good story, worth picking up the back issues of, but tough to read as an ongoing. Pretty art, and a different take on mutants- certainly.

I've kept buying ths title after Whedon/Cassaday finished, but I'm behind with reading any of the Ellis new stuff. Totally off topic, though twl7569, your signature " YNWA" = You'll Never Walk Alone?

I actually half expected Jeff to say... " Yes, I would highly recommend the Shampoo bottle over the current run of Astonishing."

Definitely not Ellis's best work. And turn Forge into the High Evolutionary was really lame . Overall it is pretty much standard Ellis, different planes of existence (The Bleed). I would recommend 1-24 & Giant Size.
Jeph Loeb Color Books = Tracing Collector: Hey man. If somebody draws something and then you draw the same thing right on top of it, not going out-side the designated original art, what do you call that! Little kid:I don't know. Tracing? Collector:(to Banky) See? Banky: It's not tracing. Collector: Oh, but it is. Banky:(to Little Kid) Do you want your book signed or what? Collector: Hey - don't get all testy with him just because you have a problem with your station in life. Banky: I'm secure with what I do. Collector: Then say it - you're a tracer.

I would recommend 1-24 & Giant Size. My problem with the first Ellis arc was definitely the inclusion of other mutants from other dimensions. Isn't that what fans and creators complain about in the first place? Too many alternate dimensions and there's supposed to be "no more mutants", so going to another dimension to find more totally wrecks that idea. I just don't understand how he keeps getting work from Marvel and specifically the X-office, when I've read quotes of his from his blogs and his book "Come In Alone" how he's always at odds with them, blames them for butchering his scripts, and it doesn't matter who writes it, it'll always sell because we superhero fans just basically buy anything. Sooo, it seems he just keeps coming back for a paycheck while doing his properly published indie books?

Yeah, Whedon's run is pretty good. Though that is overrated as hell too IMO. Stay away from the current stuff.
