CBR is asking this in a poll: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=poll&id=97What are CCL'ers opinion on this? Here are the choices CBR included in their poll: -Bob Kane -Dick Sprang -Neal Adams -Jim Aparo -Frank Miller -David Mazzuchelli -Norm Breyfogle -Bruce Timm -Jim Lee -Greg Capullo Feel free to discuss others, though, since we're not restricted to the poll options here. I chose Jim Aparo. When I think of Batman, it's Jim Aparo's Batman that pops into my head immeadiatly. And isn't that what "definitive" means? ***CHECK OUT MY COMIC TRADING LIST, CLICK HERE******TRADE VIDEO GAMES WITH ME, CLICK HERE******TRADE COMIC CARDS WITH ME, CLICK HERE***Make sure that you read and understand the forum rules here

I can't beleive that Dick Giordano did not make that list, he is my personal favorite for the massive amount of work that he has done on the Dark Knight books.

I can't believe that Marshall Rogers was left off the initial list of nominees.
I'm not sure I would rank Rogers above Neal Adams, but I would probably rank him higher, as a Batman artist, than most of the others listed.

I'm just throwing the Marshall Rogers run on Detective out there; some pretty badass stuff. (Edit: lol, guess ^^ wrote that while I was on mine) so what he said Big signatures are REALLY annoying.

Neal Adams was the best, many classic issues, but to me the quintessential Batman artist is Jim Aparo, he was a perfect fit & probably had the longest run. If I were older my vote would probably go to Bob Kane.

For me, whenever I think about Batman it's always the Jim Aparo version. Probably because I grew up with him and Breyfogle. I actually can't believe that Giordano isn't at least on the list. Seriously, he has probably done more Batman work than any other artist. He really should be on the list instead of Mazzuchelli. Jim Lee and Greg Capullo haven't done enough Batman work to be considered definitive and Miller is more definitive as a writer than an artist. I guess an argument could be made that Kane is the definitive Batman artist since he is the one who designed the character after all. But my vote goes to Aparo. I can't believe how far down the list Bob Kane and Dick Sprang are in the results. It just goes to show that most people are voting for either the big names or the guys that have worked on Batman recently. I think CBR should run a poll to see how many people actually know the names of some of the creators of heroes like Batman, Superman, etc.
