Re restoration of comics vs. restoration of other collectibles:
Part of the point, I think, in appreciating a "fully restored" automobile is the acknowledgment of its restoration (I think another part has to do with whether the parts used in restoration were original manufacturer parts or after-market parts).
And as someone has pointed out here, there is a difference between a restored auto and an auto that never deteriorated to the point of requiring restoration. I strongly suspect the collectible auto market would favor the latter over the former (in the unlikely event of two indistinguishable autos, one restored, one not, becoming available to collectors).
I have been made aware of a useful distinction observed by museums: the distinction between preservation and restoration. Each has its place. But when one is regarding a particular artifact, it is useful to know which category the artifact falls into.

This has always been one of the problems with CGC and their PR - they only discuss "negative" things on their chatboard, a conscious decision on their part. Did you ever hear about Ewart or PCS in Wizard or CBG? No. Was there ever any press releases that CGC would re-check Ewart books for free? No. The only way to discuss these issues is to link to the specific CGC thread, and that then in and of itself becomes a relevant conversation just by posting it. The president of CGC is posting in that thread, so it's definitely not your run-of-the-mill everyday BS. I'm just trying to get this info out to the hobby, as it affects many of us. Sounds like these boards have a self-esteem problem but I can understand your position. Thanks for realizing there's a difference between spam and what I posted

That's what you do,don't you?Try to divert people away from CCL,really.Wouldn't you rather talk about something relevant to comics, even if it's from another message board.
