I'm officially going to be a daddy. It's due right after Christmas.

It worked out well, we just got a 2nd car, and we have a couple grand saved up to move out of this apartment and into a house. For once, the timing worked out for something in my life. *knocks on wood*

Anyone that also knows me on Facebook, please don't say anything on there. My wife still wants to tell some people in person.

So me and the wife went to dinner with the in-laws and her brother and his wife were there, too. The official reason we were there was to celebrate her brother and his wife's new house purchase. My wife makes the announcement, her parents already knew but her brother and sister-in-law didn't. Turns out they were about to make their announcement, too. My sister-in-law is only a week behind my wife in her pregnancy. How crazy is that?

Sounds like a great sit-com plot!

That should be cool for the kids to grow up together. I have a cousin very close in age and she and I had a lot of fun being the two oldest of our generation.

Things happen in 3's, any other relatives expecting? Big Grin

I'll quote Bill Murray for you from Lost in Translation, regarding having your first kid:

"It's the most terrifying day of your life, the day the first one is born. Your life, as you know it, is gone. Never to return. But they learn how to walk, and they learn how to talk, and...you want to be with them. And they turn out to be the most delightful people you will ever meet in your life."

As someone who's fourth was born just last month, I think this sums up honestly what it's like to become a father.

My advice for what you should do between now and December? Do nothing as much as possible. Stay in bed with your wife all day and watch movies. Don't get dressed for the day. Don't have a set schedule. Indulge your hobbies as much as possible. Say goodbye to your friends. Because all of this changes and takes a back seat when the little guy comes.

And if you ever find yourself feeling guilty about not being there for your kid, or not doing enough for him or with him--it's probably a sign that your actually a great father. It's when you don't care that indicates a problem.

Oh--congratulations!Applause Applause

Thanks for the advice.

I think the indulging in my hobbies things is already taking a back seat, though. Because now we have to finally get out of this apartment and look for a house. Moving takes money.
