I was just reading on Newsarama how Sheena will now be an ongoing series by Devil's Due Publishing. In the article they had some cover art posted and one of them stood out right away for.

Nice homage to McFarlane's Spider-Man #1, lol.

Although that isn't the first time anybody ever pays tribute to that cover.

I'm sure there are more too.

Tim Seeley puts out a pretty good product, so this series should be enjoyable. Too bad it will be in the shadow of Shanna the She-Devil.

Also, don't forget McFarlane also copied himself on Amazing Spider-Man #13 and Spawn #8.

I'll take Shanna the She-Devil.

Until your post I thought they were the same character, damn sure look like it. Isn't Shanna supposed to get a new story soon? I always read in Wizard how they wanted her to go under the Max imprint. I only know Shanna from her short appearance in Black Panther-House of M issue. Sheena does has some good art from that picture. I'd like to hear the difference between Sheena and Shanna though...

Sheena debuted in 1942 and was the 1st big "jungle girl", the original Shanna didn't debut until 1972. And the new Frank Cho version is a totally separate character. Sheena could talk to animals, the 1st Shanna married Ka-Zar, and the new Shanna is a genetic experiment.

Thanks, Wikipedia! :)
