I hate to complain about officiating but that Redskins/Bengals game was tough to watch, and not just because it was preseason! The head official must have been getting paid by the word or he liked the sound of his own voice because yellow flags were littering the field on almost every play in the first quarter.
The biggest penalty that I believe was unwarranted was the helmet to helmet hit charged to Josh Norman. The ball had been tipped and Norman was trying to intercept it before it hit the ground, at the same time the WR was attempting the same thing. They collided and Josh got a personal foul. He was absolutely NOT trying to spear the guy. It was patently obvious that he was going after a loose ball and the WR ran into him more than the other way around. But those calls always go against the defense.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining solely about calls against the Skins, there were some ticky-tacky fouls called against the Bengals as well.
I do like being able to challenge Pass Interference calls. It will be a learning curve for coaches to decide when to challenge.
OK, moving on...
Looks like the Washington medical staff bungled Colt McCoy's situation in addition to alienating Trent Williams by misdiagnosing him. Probably won't see either of them on the field this year, unless they trade Williams. I am all for that. Look, I like the guy but he obviously doesn't want to play in DC anymore so why not get something back for him. He'll be harder to trade when he's a year older.
BTW, did I already say that Antonio Brown is a Clown?
Apparently he's too good to practice (we talking about practice!) and reports are in that he also shows up late for meetings and once he gets there he immediately goes to his phone and starts playing games, texting, checking out Twitter, etc. and doesn't really pay attention to what the coaches are saying. Man, it must be nice to be super talented and coddled throughout your entire career. His nickname is "A.B." Half right, it should be Bay-bee.
