ACC is going to 9 conference games. Not sure if they're going to start with it next year.
VT is supposed to play VMI, so I really hope that game doesn't get dropped. (And not for football reasons.)

SEC is going to 9 starting next year. 3 permanent opponents, rotate the other 6. They will "revisit" the permanent opponents after 4 years.
I predict a lot of whining about teams getting "easy" rivals, and crying about traditional rivalries being lost. Some people's definition of traditional seem to be extremely varied reading message boards.

You should be hoping they drop the ODU game.

Yeah, nothing says "tradition" like that classic SEC rivalry between Tennessee and Oklahoma.

We've already dropped a bunch of future ODU games, probably in anticipation of the ninth conference game. Although I'm starting to think that ODU did us a favor by kickstarting the changes that I believe are about to happen in Blacksburg.
As I scrolled further down the article (it got hidden by some ads so I didn't notice that there was more), and they confirmed that it starts in 2027.

We've gone through two rounds of that in the ACC in the last 2-3 years. And the VT fans were mad about the first version. We lost the annual game against Miami, and got stuck with teams we didn't want to play every year. In fact, it looked like we got our "rivals" swapped with another school. But when they added the geographically challenged teams and had to reconfigure the schedules again, they went away from having a set number of permanent rivals, so VT got two - uva and Miami, which are really the only two long term series that we care about. I was just glad we finally got away from annual games against Boston College. We were only paired up with them for so long because we both jumped from the Big East within a two year span.
A lot of fans got so used to playing GT every year that it was a shock to not play them. But then we realized that we were past the days of a Bud Foster vs. Paul Johnson chess match as a divisional championship game, and there was nothing else connecting us other than the second half of our name.
But Miami is the team we love to hate, because there is absolutely no reason for these two schools to have any sort of rivalry or connection, except for the fact that we both keep getting in each other's way.

I think the Virginia student body set record for fastest field storm in history plus flattened that FSU receiver in the process.

No joke, I was seriously worried about that dude. Thankfully he ended up being OK. If that play had happened at the other end zone it would not have been nearly chaotic. That end is the student section and a giant hill with no seating, it's like a human wave coming down.

That was just a warmup. Wait until November 29th and you'll see an epic field storming.
