A few stories out there trying to say that so many teams are declining bowl invitations, and that's another story that's a bit disingenuous. Obviously, the whiny irish of ND dropped out of a bowl, and so did two Big 12 teams. But those were the only bowl eligible teams that declined. Then the bowls started going down the list of 5-7 teams to fill those now-empty slots, and several of them declined, because they had already started their offseason plans. That's why it looks like 8-10 teams refused a bowl, when it was really only 3.
I forgot to mention that. High and mighty Notre Dame taking their football and going home is pretty self righteous. Screw em.

WEEK 16
Navy Midshipmen - I usually go Army because I have more relatives that were there but I will take Navy this time on account of I think they're the better team.
FCS - Montana Grizzlies - I hate coyotes. Go bears.

I can't tell you who the Champion of Life should be but I definitely know who it is not. Sherrone Moore.

That whole Michigan staff (mostly assembled by Harbaugh) looks very suspicious. Elsewhere, someone pondered if it might be the most corrupt coaching staff ever. If it is, I don't think it was intentional, as in, there wasn't a conscious effort to do things to gain advantages. I think that Harbaugh is a weird dude and probably missed a lot of what everyone else would consider red flags when hiring people.
And we're going with the winner of the Pop Tarts Bowl as the new Champion of Life....this way, it also separates it from "The Belt", at least for a while.

Howie, what do you think of the new ACC schedule?
Next year, 12 teams play 9 conference games, and 5 only play 8.
Starting in 2027, everyone plays 9 conference games, except one team that can only play 8 because the math doesn't work out with 17 teams.
I'm sure the tiebreakers won't be screwed up at all.

What do I think?
Pretty dumb. That's the problem with unbalanced leagues, the numbers don't work out. Reminds me of when the Browns came back to the NFL and there were 31 teams for a while. Every week of the season had at least one team on a BYE.
It's ludicrous and doesn't make any sense. Just go back to having Divisions. East/West, North/South, Atlantic/Coastal, Top of the Alphabet/Bottom of the Alphabet........ Or drop a team (not likely) or pick up a team (Notre Dame? JMU?).
Not sure if it really matters in the long run as were are about to enter the realm of the Mega-Conference. Thirty teams in the SEC and 30 in the Big 10 and all the other Conferences can just go pound sand.

I don't mind the idea of the mega conferences, because I think that will bring back a lot of the smaller regional stuff that has gone away.
Collectively, they're going to have to make a decision about the Group of 5 -- do they create a third subdivision of D1?
But there's no way that the ACC doesn't screw up their schedule and championship next year.

Oklahoma Sooners @ Alabama Crimson Tide
Soo-soo-soooners! Going Oklahoma. Bama still has the Saban taint.

December 20
Texas A&M Aggies - Miami should be in the CFP but didn't win enough games. Won't win this one either.
Tulane Green Wave - I like the Green Wave mascot. Looks like something out of Sid and Marty Krofft.
James Madison Dukes - I know everybody thinks that the Ducks will crush the Dukes. Even if they don't win I think that JMU will still beat the spread.
Bowl Games
December 19
Myrtle Beach Bowl (Conway, SC)
Kennesaw State Owls vs Western Michigan State Broncos (C-USA Champ vs MAC Champ)
Missed this but I would have picked Owls because of Harry Potter.
Gasparilla Bowl (Tampa, FL)
Memphis Tigers vs North Carolina State Wolfpack
Missed this as well but I would have gone Tigers anyway. Cats over dogs.
December 22
Famous Idaho Potato Bowl (Boise, ID)
Washington State Cougars vs Utah State Aggies (what a nice location to be awarded with)
Cats, obviously. Hey, I hear that Boise is lovely this time of year.
December 24
Sheraton Hawaii Bowl (Honolulu, HI)
California Golden Rebels vs Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (this is more like it for location)
I like the idea of a Rainbow Warrior. There could possibly be a rainbow in Boise after the latest snowfall?
December 27
Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl (Bronx, NY)
Penn State Nittany Lions vs Clemson Tigers (probably be a matchup of 4th stringers with all the selfish opt outs here)
Only reason I am going PSU is because of my disdain for Clemson.
Wasabi Fenway Bowl (Boston, MA)
Connecticut Huskies vs Army Black Knights
Gotta go with our military.
Pop-Tarts Bowl (Orlando, FL)
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs Brigham Young Cougars (the Bowl Notre Dame "too good" to play in)
Pop Tarts Bowl? Really? Who serves Pop Tarts in a bowl? Going ACC,
Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl (Tucson, AZ)
Miami (OH) Red Hawks vs Fresno State Bulldogs (these sponsors are crazy)
Snoop Dogg Bowl has so many double meanings. Gives a new definition of "Swag Bag". Do the players all receive a commemorative bong?
TaxSlayer Gator Bowl (Jacksonville, FL)
Virginia Cavaliers vs Missouri Tigers (really thought my Vols would end up here)
Sorry kitties, you are going to get spanked.
Kinder's Texas Bowl (Houston, TX)
Louisiana State Tigers vs Houston Tigers (I got a new team to hate as I continue to ride the Anti-Lane Train)
Gonna be a weird one. Tiger on Tiger battle I will go Frosted Flakes.
December 29
JLAB Birmingham Bowl (Birmingham, AL)
Georgia Southern Eagles vs Appalachian State Mountaineers (the game no one wanted to play in apparently)
I like App State and Eagles have been pissing me off lately.
December 30
Liberty Mutual Music City Bowl (Nashville, TN)
Tennessee Volunteers vs Illinois Fighting Illini (only one I will watch all the way through)
You gonna be in the stands, Jeremy?
Valero Alamo Bowl (San Antonio, TX)
Southern California Trojans vs Texas Christian Horned Frogs
The Do-it-Now's beat the Wait-until-Marriage's!
December 31
ReliaQuest Bowl (Tampa, FL)
Iowa Hawkeyes vs Vanderbilt Commodores
As much a fan of Clint Barton I am I think that Vandy has the upper hand here.
Citrus Bowl (Orlando, FL)
Michigan Wolverines vs Texas Longhorns
Can't imagine Michigan players being too hyped about this game.
SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl (Las Vegas, NV)
Nebraska Cornhuskers vs Utah Utes
Utah players will be less distracted by the hedonistic ways of Vegas.
