Meh.. forgettable movie, just like Batman Begins.

It was way too long for nothing. At one point, I thought we were near the end and I looked at my watch.. still had an hour to go. This movie just seemed to drag on forever.

I loved the characters. Their personalities and motives. Chris Nolan/David Goyer did a good job with the overall plot. The chaos seemed so organized and every plot twists seamlessly blended together.

And although I thought the characters were well acted and written.. I honestly didn't give a damn about any them, especially Jim Gordon.

Batman's voice was annoying at hell.

I thought the movie was good, but it wasn't great. I wouldn't lose any sleep if I never got the chance to watch it again. Just like Begins. I saw Begins twice at the theater... and for the life of me, I honestly couldn't tell you what happens in that movie.. I just don't remember.

I thought Iron Man was much more entertaining.

Too bad, I was really hoping to love this movie.

3 out of 5 stars from me.

WOW dude, I'm surprised. I haven't seen Iron Man, I will though! I can believe you though, sometimes you just don't see what everyone else is seeing....I thought all the Marvel movies were garbage. X-Men, Daredevil, Elektra, Hulk etc....not Spider-Man or Blade though, loved those, especially Blade II.

A lot of people hated Bale's voice in the movie, me? Not so much, thats exactly what I picture his voice as being. He has to be gravely and intimidating, the underworld has to fear him. They have to believe he is more evil than them (even though he isn't)

I always loved the scene where the villain is like (paraphrasing here) "I don't know man! I DON'T KNOW! I SWEAR TO GOD!"

Batman - "SWEAR TO ME!"

I almost (banned) my pants.

I understand what you're saying, but I think it's the "rage" in Bale's voice that was annoying. I always pictured Batman's vice as being intimidating but more in the sense of "this guy only talks when he really needs to say something". Otherwise, Batman intimidates with silence. I pictured his voice as being just a gruff whisper. Think along the lines of Clint Eastwood in Heartbreak ridge.

I don't know.. I was just left really indifferent when I left the theater.

There were memorable moments, mostly involving The Joker.. but it wasn't enough to hold the whole movie IMO. I'm not saying I hated it. I recommend that everyone check it out. I just don't think I'll be seeing it again.

As far as thinking that the Marvel movies are generally better... well my favorite superhero movie of all time is still Superman 2. I really loved Spider-Man 2 and Blade 2 as well.

I didnt think you'd care for it. Its understandable because you're a die hard Marvel fan and the die hards aren't gonna like it. I thought it was better than Iron Man. I got bored in IM. It was good but not as good as DK. The one thing that bothered me was Bat's voice. Other than that, its the best comic based movie ever, imo.

I dont think dark knight would have really gotten newhere near as big as it did if heath ledger wasnt in it. Wasnt my type of movie, I didnt mind it going for ages but random things in it just bugged me.
LIke the joker allways having hundreds of barrells at random places every five minutes with only the help of like 4 henchmen.
I also hated the bike part-epically whn he just drives at a wall and it flips around. . .that was random.

I thought it was ok when they werent doing the whole morales and crap speeches. I hate movies with morales.
I thought it was a crap up when they leave the joker and dont really say if he died but he just gets captured. . .they obviously knew he was gonna be a good character to use for the next movie so they kept him alive. . . lol..nows hes dead.
and they killed the only other bad guy.

I liked SinCity the best outa all comic movies. and the Blades are amazing. ..most others crap

yeah i would say thats a typical response to a marvel guy . i in general thought IM and hulk where very boring at some points . the only reason i knew batman was so long is i got up to go to the bathroom and looked at the watch other than that it was flawless. i guess just short of 600,000,000.00 cant mean it was that bad how much did IM make?

See, I disagree. I don't think me being a Marvel fan had anything to do with how I felt about this movie.

I didn't like Iron Man better because it was Marvel, I liked it better cause I thought it was more entertaining.

And it's not that I hated Dark Knight. I never said it was a bad movie. I saw it twice already.

I just thought it was very forgettable. Dry, colorless, linear.

Suspension of disbelief wasn't the problem either or else I would have said "C'MON!" when Bats jumped out of a penthouse window to save Rachel.. Using nothing but his cape to "slow them down" (might as well have used a magic umbrella, Mary Poppins), plummets to the ground and lands on a car.. without skipping a beat asks if she's ok. She doesn't seem traumatized at all either. All in a days work for a guy with no super powers.

The writing was very good. The plot was well thought out and all the characters were perfectly written. They all said what we would all expect them to say.

But even still.. I ended up leaving the theater with "Meh". The only scene I boast to people about is when Joker visits Two-Face in the hospital, dressed in the nurses outfit.

Like honestly..what other scene is even worth mentioning?

Good, Forgettable. It made it's money off of me, like any cheap whore would. I got my rocks off, but now I just wanna forget the whole thing happened. lol.

See, its all in your subconscious, Cavy. Being a Marvel fan, you went in believe it would suck without even knowing it. Its ok, that happens when people are overly exposed to dangerous toxins like Marvel Comics. Winking

I dont see how ANYONE can think Dark Knight is a forgetable movie. I think its UNFORGETABLE! Its sure better than the Spiderman movies as well as X-Men, imo. Its destined to be a classic!

This is cause to point out that what makes a better film is strictly a matter of opinion.

Although there is such a thing as "bad art", nobody in their right mind would chastise the X-Men films as "bad art", unless the viewer had some disdain to action films or comic books as an art form. Such critics are out there, but it is safe to say none of them are in this forum.

THe same can be said for Spider-man 2, Iron Man and Dark Knight... these are films of extremely high caliber, and I'm not sure I want to meet the person who would "accuse" these films of falling short on intentions (or delivery) to the point of failure.

The point is, it really is a matter of taste. This is not exactly a revelation, but I can't think of a better example that what we have going here. No one asked, but I thought Dark Knight was probably the best superhero film ever produced, but I cannot help myself that I enjoy Iron Man just a little more. THis has nothing to do with my Marvel/DC sensibilities.

The fact is, if a stranger asked me to recommend a "first" superhero film, I would go with The Dark Knight. But if any of you were to recommend Spider-Man 2, or Iron Man I would be perfectly satisfied... but if anyone recommends Ghost Rider or Daredevil, there will be serious consequences.

Spiderman 2 was the best out of the three. Still was a bit corney but not like the first one. I think Dark Knight's Joker beats Spiderman's Green Goblin anyday.

I didnt like the first X-Men movie. I like the X-Men but thought the series could have been better.

Dark Knight had a lot more emotion and feeling to it than Iron Man did. I liked that because you really care about the characters after the movie. I didnt get that feeling from IM. Iron Man was good but just not better than Dark Knight...imo.

See I didn't care at all about Bale's Batman/Wayne.

It's like I keep saying... I really didn't hate Dark Knight. Seperate all of its elements and they are top notch in each of their own right (directing, cinematography, writing, acting, special effects). It is the best Batman Film to date.. I fully agree. It's a great Superhero movie, especially how it's more strongly laced in with the believable.

But still.. there's just "something". Something that I just can't allow myself to see this movie as the best. And this is all without comparing it to the other superhero block busters. Yes, I said that I found Iron Man much more entertaining.. I never said it was a better movie.

Strictly speaking as a movie goer, not a comic fan, not a marvel fan.. but just as a film buff... Dark Knight fell short for me. I just wasn't blown away.

Would I recommend this film if people asked? Yes. It's worth seeing IMO.

Do I think it's the best superhero movie ever made? It's up there, but not quite. I still think Superman 2 was better (but I haven't watched it in a while, lol)

Again though, notice that I'm not actually saying that any of the superhero movies were better than Dark Knight (except Superman 2, but it's more of a sentimental issue I think).

The other Superhero movies are good in their own right, but I'll almost agree that none of them are at the caliber that Dark Knight was. Maybe that's its problem... It's TOO good that it shouldn't even be classified as a superhero movie. I dunno.. I can't put my finger on it. Straight Face

By that logic, you're saying Titanic was the greatest movie ever made.

Hardly.

The amount of money a movie makes does not necessarily mean it's a better or worse movie. Dark Knight and Iron Man's circumstances were completely different.

That said, I really loved Dark Knight. As a movie, as a cinematic art form, it was Much better than Iron Man. As far as entertainment value, I would rather go watch Iron Man. I don't always want to be mind-(banned)ed every time I go to the theater.

I think each movie was very good in it's own way.
