WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL STAR WARS THREAD!

As a huge Star Wars fan and knowing there are others on this board, I thought it would be cool to have a thread that is devoted just to that fantastic saga. I thought that here we could discuss whatever we want concerning Star Wars movies, comics, video games, toys, collectibles, cartoons, novels, statues, favorite characters, ships, scenes, and anything else we can think of. Maybe we can share memories of when we were kids seeing it for the first time or taking our own kids to see it for their first time. Something about Star Wars seems to span generations bringing fun and excitement to millions around the world. So if you love Star Wars or have some complaints about it, lets discuss it here.Post your SW costumes or collection if you have em too.

Remember just to be civil and respectful of others. I hope this is a bit of fun for everyone.

The first time I saw the original, a group of friends and I drove out to see it. By the time we got in to see it we had had quite a few beers and it blew us away we had never seen anything like it. Applause

A couple of days later, saw it again sober this time and it blew us away again. Cool

That being said, I never would have beleived the impact it would have. Or that years later I would watch it again with my children. Now looking forward to sharing it with my grandkids. Dancing

It was the first film I ever saw at the theatre. I was 10 and I went on my own. I was completely blown away. I'd already been reading comics a couple of years by this time, and on British TV we had all the Star Trek re-runs, Dr. Who, UFO all the Gerry Anderson shows, but nothing like this. The scale... the vision.... the grandeur.

Yeah, it still wears well today even without Lucas's 1999 cosmetic "Makeover".

May The Force Be With You.

I remember when Star Wars first came out I was nine years old. I knew nothing about it and my mom suggested me and my brother go see it. I asked her what it was about and my mom just said, "It's like Star Trek". Of course, she had no idea, she just knew it was sci fi. Since I hated Star Trek, I said "No way!" But my brother took me anyway and suffice to say it changed the way I looked at movies and sci fi. I remember the local movie theater we went to see it in only had 2 screens, both showed the movie and it stayed in that theater the whole rest of the year that was 1977.

I dated a girl who was the daughter of one of the key members of the San Diego Star Wars Society. She had a room similar to yours, Fate. On the walls were pictures of all the mane characters... autographed by the actors who played them. And of course, George Lucas's Autograph (And I think like Ben Burt and those guys...)

My ex-girlfriend's name was Leia.

And I definitely have that Falcoln.

I really wish they would Remake X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter. I thought that was one of the most fun flight sims ever...

I'm nearly brought to tears every time I pick up a copy of SW Insider, and see the values of all the toys I played with, and used and abused ustil they were gone. Crying I had original Millenium Falcon, A Boba Fett that shot the rocket (and was recalled), The X-Wing an Tie Fighter, the Jawa Droid Factory....plus a few dozen figures....*sigh*..I could almost retire on the combined value of the stuff I destroyed....D'oh

My parents took me to a drive in theatre to see A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back in 1980. I loved Luke Skywalker back then. Now I hate him...lol. I love Darth Vader and Jabba the Hutt...lol.

I still like Luke but I like him bette in ESB. I think Vader will always be my favorite character but I pretty much love em all except for Gungans and Ewoks.

YESS WOO STAR WARS THREAD. I'm a bigger Star Wars fan than Spider-manOoh but not by much. I love everything about these movies and have devoted alot of paychecks and birthday money to Star Wars stuff. Unfortunately I wasn't old enough to see it in theaters when it first came out but I did see them when they were re released in theaters. I'm a child of the prequel trilogy and Episode 1 came out when I was just 8 and it was the greatest thing I'd ever seen. I still prefer the original 70's and 80's versions of the movies without all the remastering.

I was like 5 when Jedi came out, so I loved the Ewoks. That scene where the one dies and the other one goes to check on him makes me want to cry.

Commence throwing things at fatherjeff....NOW.

Great Epic!
With the exception of a few, comics aren't what they use to be. That's why I stick to the 60's - 80's. GO MARVEL.

i love how han solo enters the room where darth is at the other end of the table in ESB and doesnt hesitate pulls out the blaster and fires... unfortunately a blaster has no chance against the all powerful force..

Thats one of my favorite parts too. Not even seeing Vader right in front of him makes Han back down.

Here is some info on the new Star Wars Legacy series from Dark Horse. I have every issue and really enjoy it. Its different yet the same, if you know what I mean. Below are some pics of some of the Legacy characters. Check it out if you get the chance.
