Good topic idea, I think I've been over looking it cuz my eyes always check for the dark circles indicating new posts. I just got a Xbox 360 a month ago and have been playing a lot of the newer and older games on it to rack up my achievements a little bit, once I start beating some games I will have to start posting.

The only game I have "beaten" on 360 is GRID, a racing game that came about about a month and a half ago. GI magazine gave it a 9 out of 10, which I totally agree with. The racing action is top notch. I am a big time racing game fan and was really interested when I first heard about it. It has a nice long career mode without being seemingly never ending. The graphics are better than NFS, Forza 2, Gran Turismo (yes I said it), AND Project Gotham. Once you kill the volume on your pit chief and your team mate the sound is great. If you crash there is a rewind feature, you get four rewinds per race if you play normal difficulty, (they call it "flashbacks").

A good racing game player can get about 500 achievement points out of one play through the normal difficulty career mode. Theres about 70 some odd cars ranging from classic muscle cars to multi-million dollar European racing cars, and around 100 races from start to finish. Also the races consist of various types; standard X number of laps around a track, theres one demolition derby, some touge races (think the Canyon from Need for Speed Carbon), and drift scoring races, (don't worry they are better and more challenging that the ones in Need for Speed).

I guess the last good thing to say is the difficulty level stays the same through the whole game, its starts out challenging and stays just challenging enough to gray some hairs, but not bad enough to go bald.

This game is also available on PS3, and PC

Oblivion: The Elder Scrolls IV (10/10)

Quite simply, the best RPG ever made.

A lot of stock to draw upon, not the least of which is the collective of previous Elder Scroll incarnations (particularly Elder Scrolls III:Morrowind), but when it comes to crawling through dungeons armed with a sword and your wits,Oblivion is the game you've always wanted to play since you picked up your first gaming console.

The most impressive feature of this game is the absolute, consummate level of immersion; meaning once you're in, you are IN and want to STAY in. There are many long lasting moments as a game player where you will lose yourself in the vast world of "Tamriel", where 5 hours of game time can whisk away if one is not "cautious". The minutae of the game, by design, will not be covered in this review, making allowances toward the "unfolding" of each wonderfully crafted event during gameplay. Suffice it to say, the main quest is engaging and moderately complex, not out of place in an Arthurian setting, and one which you actually end up caring about in short time. All in all, the craftsmanship is first rate.

The other impressive feature is the level of free play. This is the paragon of "sandbox" gaming; again with the exception of Morrowind which could be jeered as "too open ended", no other game comes close to the level of character freedom associated with this game. There are almost 400 side quests (with the expansions). They are often superior to main missions on other RPGs, to give some indication as to how engossing they can be. Figure the minimum time to finish a quest is about an hour of game time (some much higher), you can hope to spend almost 500 hours of gametime "finishing" the game, and Bioware Software continues to support this product with updates and plugins to keep the consumers engaged. It is easy (quite easy) to ignore the main quests altogether in search of something else to do, to quell more... immediate player needs shall we say. As they unfurl throughout the game, the player will have plenty to do to keep himself occupied.

All the proper fantasy devices are prevalent in this game: essentially a search and rescue to restore the land of Tamriel, a richly detailed and markedly expansive world; the likes and size of which have not been attempted in any other RPG with any real success (there are about 20 square miles of actual "footage") Shamelessly cluttered with ruins, dungeons, caves, and other adventuring areas of interest, there is always someting to do. One of the hallmarks to this game is the lavishly detailed towns that make up Tamriel, each with it's own identity and each providing enough personality to properly align the roleplaying elements this game has furnished for you.

Character customization is a must for any RPG, and of course, Oblivion delivers. A number of different races, astrological signs and professions allow for quality character and personae generation. Later in the game, the character can embark upon a sequence of guild based side quests; rather a charter that promotes either thievery, wizardry, mercenary skills or assassin based vocations... all of which serve as their own reward.

The voice acting is superb (if not repeated a bit), the graphics (and artwork, to keep them separate) are wonderfully rendered and genuine to the architecture of the medieval period. THe animation sequences, mostly during combat are done with precision.

The mood of the game is perfectly augmented by an effective score by composer Jeremy Soule, who has effectively hit a home run with every other RPG he has laid hands upon (notably the Balder's Gate series). As an experiment, this reviewer had the soundtrack muted during gameplay which made for a very sterile gaming experience.

There is genuine satisfaction with this game the further your character travels throughout the main quest. But the game may not be for everyone. It is first and foremost a cerebral game; i.e. if you have had unpleasant experiences with RPGs in the past this will likely not solve your problems. Indeed, there is a narrative richness to this game: the more it unfolds, the more attached you will be to your avatar, and the satisfaction becomes a bit more passive than actualized. In other words, if you find tedium with leveling up a character for the sake of completing a game, you could find yourself ignoring the artifacts during elevated play that make this game as grand as it's intentions.

The gameplay is photo-realistic, and the melee sequences are a means to an end; do not expect the level of technique and showmanship of Halo or even Mass Effect. But these are not the Gods that Oblivion pray to, in fact it is part of its appeal.

Finally, one of the strongest indicators for a successful RPG has been deployed throughout the development of Oblivion: there is no penalty for relaxing gameplay and returning days, weeks or even months later. THis serves as a perpetuating gaming experience, one that doesn't force you to re-acquaint yourself the with the mechanics or lore of the land in order to continue seamlessly. You are never punished for NOT playing, as the rhythm of gameplay is obvious and self-evident, and with the help of an intuitive journal, you can re-familiarize yourself with your previous actions, decisions and history. This is a remarkable achievement for Bioware, for a game of this caliber and size.

There is simply nothing wrong with this game for those looking for the ultimate role-playing experience. Whether it be through tabletop Dungeons and Dragons, or the family of turn-based Balder's Gate games there is something here for both camps. Consider Oblivion your reward for having an active imagination, and an excuse for unleashing its true potential. And if done properly, for many years.

The best games of recent times I have played:

1. Oblivion. Dementia pretty much covered this in all its glorious detail. 9.5/10

2. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Usually I avoid FPS games, unless there's a great hook for it (Return to Castle Wolfenstein for example). This would have been the top game of the past few years IMO, if it had a longer single player campaign. Everything about this game is stunning, from the graphics to the music, to the game engine. As I don't play online, that whole aspect is lost on me. If the single player campaign had just a few more missions, a bit more extended game play, this one would have been the tops of its genre. 9/10

3. Resident Evil 4. This is perhaps the best game I've ever played. I played this on the PS2, and I was floored by it. Not only is a great advancement on the RE story line, post-Umbrella, but is an ideal starting point for new fans to jump in on. The game controls are far more instinctual than previous RE games, as is the aiming mechanic. The puzzles are less cerebral than in previous games, but is still an important part of the over all game play. Actions early on in the game can have an important effect later on (players will know about the dog for example). Everything that made the priginal RE game great is here, as well as new material and vastly improved game play. 9.5/10

4. MLB The Show 08. The latest installment of this franchise has tons of new features. The main focus should be on the "Road to the Show" game play mode, where you create a player, and try ot get him to the Big Leagues, and stay there. 07 introduced this mode, but had some of the old flaws of the previous career modes. The 08 version has eliminated the old AI habit of bringing a player up, sitting him on the bench for weeks at a time, and stunting player development. The shift from contract goals to developmental goals in season is a more than welcome change. Even so, the AI is still horrific. The trade/GM AI is certifiably nuts (CC Sabathia for Willy Mo Pena straight up), and the manager AI is also awful. It's apparent that a lot of work went into the player creation aspects (there's not much you can't modify in creating your player, especially for appearance), and it upgrading the graphical appeal of the game, at the expense of AI development. If the AI is improved in the next edition (09), this will be the ultimate MLB game on any platform. 9/10

5. Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. This one for the Wii is a lot of fun, more so for RE fans, but still fun. Heck, I've even gotten my wife and daughter to play this one with me. This one is a rail shooter that takes a player(s) through the events of RE:0, RE:1, RE:3, and new materials. Game play is simple, point shoot, repeat. Guns are your friend, and the bigger the gun, the better the friend. There are some tweaks to the traditional RS format though. You can choose alternate paths in game when the option arrives. Some will lead to caches of stuff, others just to an easier path, others to harder ones. In addition, there are "files" that can be found in game. These files give more details on events and characters that further expand the RE universe. New materials include missions for Albert Wesker in RE:1, and what Rebecca Chmabers (RE0) was doing between RE:0 and RE:1. WHile I haven't finished this one yet, we're up to RE:3. Two player is much easier than single player, and having a gun controller/adapter for the Wii-mote is also helpful. 8.9/10

Agreed that RE4 is one of the best games in years, but I think Metal Gear Solid 3 still takes a higher spot IMO.

The Metal Gear games are the games that are making video games more than just video games. MGS3 was the first game to absolutly blow my mind. It's amazing story and even better game play experiance is just epic. My only complaint about this series is that it's been a Sony exclusive and is gonna make me shell out 600$ for a PS3 to play MGS4.

If you have a PS2, do yourself the favor or picking up any of the Metal Gear games. They're more than worth the money.

Rock Band 2

first impressions:

The first thing you will notice right off the bat, no more solo tour. But fear not, they did something COOLER!! Now you can play any single instrument on the Band Tour. The new song list so far is pretty sweet. Of course some songs won't appeal to certain people, but that's what you get with a game covering several sub genres of music. There is now a challenge mode, I have not tried it yet but I will update this review as I play the game through. From what I can tell Challenge mode has various instrument specific challenges, be it vocal, guitar, bass or drum. Speaking of bass you can now play solo on bass, unfortunately there aren't any achievements for beating the game with a particular instrument. Finishing the game is no longer a matter of beating it on guitar or vocal, its just a matter of playing through it with any combination of instruments, including as I said, playing with just one. SOOOOOO that means that going through the game will take a rather LOOONG time. Going through all the cities and playing all the venues and earning fans, getting a specific # of stars to unlock new venues etc. I think this was the best idea out of the whole game. With Guitar Hero and Rock Band 1, you played through the song list, beat the final song, or boss like in GH 3....... and that was it. Sure you could play your favorite songs over again, but it didn't take you anywhere. NOW you will play a ton of songs in various orders just like you would playing Band World Tour on RB 1.

MORE NEW STUFF

For 400 Xbox credits, you can obtain a small license file and load ALL of the songs from RB 1 onto your 360 HD and play them in RB 2. THIS IS WELL WORTH IT. You can also go into your Xbox 360 interface and delete the songs you hate and never have them pop up in a Mystery Setlist again!

More info to come, tonight I will play some of the challenge stuff and come back here and tell about it.

Watch out for my Star Wars Force Unleashed review coming soon. Also Infinite Undiscovery, Tales of Vesperia, and more throughout the holiday season, lets face it, Sept starts the holidays now, at least as far as releases of good games.

I invite other gamers to revitalize this thread by typing up a review of whatever new(ish) game you are playing or just played. You don't have to beat it to review it people. :-d

EDIT: The challenge area for Rock Band 2 is pretty arbitrary. You play preselected groups of songs and they are instrument specific, it says you unlock songs doing it, but you also unlock the same songs by playing the Tour, but there are some achievements for playing through them so they are worth the effort.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE UNLEASHED (Wii version)

Wow, this game is cool! I'm loving the story of Vader's secret apprentice and being able to use a ton of Force powers. You start out as Vader on Kashyyk. You can Force choke Wookiees until you hear their necks snap. Levitate enemies and throw them across the room, drop them off a ledge, or pull enemies close and slice them up with your saber.
As the apprentice you can shoot lightening at your enemies which is nice.

Vader sends the apprentice on several missions where he has to destroy rebels AND Imperial forces so there are no witnesses who can report to Palpatine on what Vader is doing. You have enemies on both sides which makes it interesting. You get to fight Jedi and Sith lords, aliens, and droids so the action is pretty exciting.

Problems I have with the game are that it takes a long time to beat the bosses at least on the Wii version. I really work up a sweat swinging the remote around like a lightsaber. It gets a bit tiring.
The other thing is that the apprentice is sent to Corascant and the Jedi Temple, which is in ruins, where you fight Stormtroopers and a Sith lord from the past. I think its a Sith trial or something but its hard for me to believe that Palpatine would not sense the apprentice especially if they they are both on the same planet.

All in all, its a pretty fun game. I'm not too far into it so I cant say much more about it. It makes me have second thoughts about selling my Wii though.

I give this game 7 nerds out of 10. :-b :-b :-b :-b :-b :-b :-b

OMFG LEGO BATMAN IS SO COOL. IT'S SO FUNNY AND CUTE AND SOOOOOO MUCH FUN ESPECIALLY WITH A FRIEND

I picked it up for the 360. The graphics are great. The game play is very solid and flows very well. The puzzles are cleaver, divers and plentiful. The replayability is huge.

My biggest concern with this game was that it might become repetative and boring. I'm proud to say that I had no such issues. It's very much the simple kids game of the previous Lego instalments but improved in every way to not feel like your playing Star Wars or Indiana Jones. I never got the feeling that I was playing just a redisinged version of a previous level. Although the exeption to this is the vehicle levels. They arnt bad or rehashed, just once you've played through the second vehicle level, you've got the basic formula, thus becoming slighty repetative. Though there is a lot of stuff to blow up witch almost makes up for it.

IMO, one of the games best features is not just its large list of 40 something playable characters (22 of witch are cannon Batman characters we love) but that each character has their own personality and you really feel like your playing an individual instead of just the same one character with a different color or disign.

The game isn't perfect, however. It is very syplistic and wont take the mind of Batman to figure out. And sometimes a simple task like jumping onto a ladder or platform may take several attemps (A problem shared by all previous Lego games). Traveller's Tale could have done somthing more to fix all the previous bugs and annoyances. At this point at their 4th lego game (5th if you want to count the SW Complete Sage) it's pretty unexaptable. But honostly, thats really the only promblems I came across.

I know anyone who has read my rants about how Lego Batman will be the greatest game ever may think I'm comming of a little bias, but I really looked for flaws in the game, and honostly, if you know what your getting into with a Lego game, you'll still have the same great fun as before. But if you arn't a fan of the series, there isn't really anything here to change that.

Bottom line: The game has lots to do. The experiance is at it's best, as most games are, when played with a friend. You're deffinatly getting your money's worth here. If your a fan of either Batman or the previous Lego games, your're in for a great treat.

Here's IGN's review of LEGO Batman:
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/912/912708p1.html

They gave it a rating of 7.7/10 Good
It says basically that it's the same system as the previous LEGO games, the good and bad is still present. I've only played the Star Wars one and I really didn't see any bad elements, but IGN did mention that there is still no online co-op. Online co-op would have made this game a lot better and it's a bit disappointing that it's not included but I still want to play it because I'm a huge Batman fan and the characters are all there and they look great. But I gotta think of the replay value.

So what should I do, buy it or rent it?
I rented LEGO Star Wars and that was sufficient for me.

I opted out on downloading Merc 2, the ebgames customer reviews were rather low on it. From what it sounds like it is not nearly as cool and fun as the original.

I got LEGO Batman instead, haven't burned it yet, but I know I will like it. Recently I have DLed Rock Band 2, LEGO Batman, Infinite Undiscovery, Tales of Vesperia, and Star Wars Force Unleashed. Give SW FU a try if you want, basic hack and slash, but its Star Wars canon (meaning its considered actual story by George himself) and fills the gap between Revenge and New Hope.

Star Wars Force Unleashed is a way cool game.I bought it for the PS2,I have a Wii but you can tell my disdain for the Wii when I buy my games for my older, but far superior to Wii, Ps2.My main complaint about SWFU is that it is EXTREMELY TO SHORT.It took me a little less than 8 hours to beat the game.Don't let this snafu on the game makers part stop you from enjoying every little thing there is to this game though.I have to disagrre with the poster that said this game was just your basic hack and slash genre game.If you feel that way your playing the game wrong, most of the time the light saber attacks cause way less damage than the many force attacks at your disposal.I have a major issue with a part of the story that happens later in the game but I will not vent it here because it is a major spoiler and it would only show my Star Wars geekdom. All in all this game is a must play for gamers, but I cannot say that it is a must buy because of its extremely short storyline. So I will rate this game as a 4 out of 5 stars( it fails on the aforementioned game length and some of the camera angles are frustrating when you get forced into a corner or edge of the screen) and a definite must rent/borrow and only buy this game if you are a Star Wars fan who must own all such things.

This game rocks! Based on the 1989 Batman movie, this is one of the best superhero games I've played. Its pretty simple but for some reason I really like it. The music is good and the best part is when you get to drive the Batmobile and fly the Batwing. You then face the Joker in the cathedral. The game stays close to the movie which is always a plus.
Its not a spectacular game but I think its fun. If you have a Genesis then check out this game sometime.

Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenchaichi 3.
For the Wii.

Such a fun game. Especially if your any kind of fan of the Dragon Ball universe. alking into this game, I expected that standard side view back and forth fighting experiance, but I was happily surprised that the fights take place in a truly 3D like dome setting.

The cell shaded graphics fits the DBZ disign perfectly. The graphics arnt anything amazing. It looks pretty much like last-gen graphics, but they get the job done.

There are lots of different fighting areas, all of witch have destructable elements. The first time you blast your opponant through a building or a mountian, you cant help but smile.

The fighting is fast paced and super intence. With the arena style combat, much more stratagy can be implemented in a fight. There are lots of great energy moves and combos that can be pulled off pretty easily. No 30 button combos just to pull off one kamehameha, wich I appreciated.

The game uses the Wii remote, classic controller, or game cube controller to fit your preferance.

Over 150 playable characters, all of witch are upgradable, witch makes this pretty much the ultimate DBZ experiance IMO.

A down side is that the game lacks the pick up and play feeling. You really have to get used to playing before you start becoming formidable. The game is not easy, but that doesnt take away from it being fun at all.

Story mode consists of all the Dragon Ball Z and GT sagas, a quick Dragon Ball saga, and all but 2 or 3 of the movies.

There are many many different tournoment types in the game. An interesting aspect is that you can not just choose a tourny to play at any time, you have to show up at a designated time when the tourny is open.

There is also a small RPG game mode witch I have yet to fully explore, but it seems really confusing and not worth the time, but thats just me.

Either way, the game can be enjoyed by everyone, but Dragon Ball fans will love it.

A First Look at Fable 2

Well, the first thing that happens in Fable 2 is a bird craps on your head.

When you first start playing you're 10 or so, and you do chores for money to buy a magic box ............ and guess what, I am not going to spoil anymore.

Its pretty much the same game play. Even on a regular TV the scenery and animations look great. It is a very colorful game, which I think is a bonus. Throughout the game you have a faithful dog that can point out items lying around to you. I am not sure what else he is good for but I am sure it will turn up. Also I have heard that if somehow the dog gets killed he is gone for good for the rest of the game. I have only played through the first hour or so in the game, currently my character is about 16 or 17 years old, there is a time skip just like in the first game.

I will add more stuff is anyone shows any care that I posted this. Recently this thread has been a bit dead. Hopefully with the holiday season around the corner more and more people will look in here for game ideas for themselves and others.

I considered doing a Fallout 3 review, but how the game begins is SOOO cool I wanna keep it a secret. So I will just say this. Its Oblivion, but set in a post nuclear (like 300 years or so after) Washington DC. I never played the other Fallout games, but I know that they were more like Diablo than this. Oblivion fans rejoice .......... Fallout 3 is gonna be fun.

Aw, I couldnt disagree more. True Far Cry 2 is no COD4, but nothing can be. And Far Cry isnt the quite the game for someone looking to play full on action shooter. Far Cry is one of those games that requires more patients at times.

I loved being able to hunt my enemies. And one of my favorite aspects is there not being any one direct way to advance in the game. There is so much stratagy you can apply. You can take on your missions ANY way you see fit.

And the environments are beautiful. So much time of my Far Cry 2 experiance was spent just exploring the jungle.

So basicly, if your looking for a shooter to just jump right into and blow sh*t up, Far Cry 2 may not be for you. But it's still an amazing game, even if it isnt for everyone.

Spider-Man: Web Of Shadows

The game is fun. Nothing amazing, or even spectacular (puns fully intended) but its fun.

If you've played anyone of the other previous Spider-Man games in recent years, then the games set up will be very familure. WOS plays just like Spider-Man 2/Ultimate Spider-Man but with some Marvel ultimate alliance elements included.

This is the same sandbox New York city we've seen befoe with a few minor changes. Lots of detail and destructable structures.

Combat is pretty cool. There is almost an arcade like feeling to it. There are lots of combos and upgradable moves to buy with experiance points. One of the newer combat elements is the "wall fighting" as I'm calling it (where you fight enemies with sticking to the side of a building ect.)

Web slinging is decent, but not a sophistocated as previous games. Wal crawling is actuall somewhat annoying at first, but gets better as you play more.

I appreciated being able to switch between regular costume and black suit spidy at any time I wanted.

Missions can be pretty repetative. Again, if you've played any other Spider-man game in the last few years, you know the drill. Between main story missions there are gang fights and various other crimes that are to be stoped. Aswell as chasing Black Cat and other characters. This is what annoyed me the most. The games layout is exactly like the other Spidy games. So if you didnt like Spider-Man 2/3 or Ultimate Spidy then this game will not change your mind.

The graphics are solid, but not the best.

THE VOICE ACTING IS HORRIBLE. WHO EVER THE CASTING DIRECTOR WAS NEEDS TO CHANGE CARRERS. PETER PARKER IS SOOOOO ANOYING IN THIS GAME.

But again, the game is still fun (mainly because it uses the same formula that worked before). With the exeption of a new take on combat and the new story and some slight RPG elements, not much has changed. Harcore spidy fans will enjoy it the most, the rest of you should wait for a price cut or just rent it.

Don't worry, Fallout 3 is just fine. I got it early and I like it. If you are looking for something with constant action, you wont like it. Its an Oblivion style post nuclear shooter/RPG. Tons of potential but I am waiting to play it when its turn comes up on my busy gaming schedule ...... luckily I am past the 1/2 way point on Rock Band 2. I think I will actually save the endless set list till I have played another game.

Tales of Vesperia: 8.25 / 10

A casual review of Tales of Vesperia. I have not finished this game, but have every intention of doing so in spite of the pull list of games that have engrossed me (see post upstairs).

The Tales series is a throwback to mid-level JRPGs; building upon a strong dynasty with previous editions and a membership that has lasted for years. The Tales series has pushed the RPG genre in different directions, and has contributed towards other reputable houses of worship (i.e. an eclectic catalog of game-series members that include Balder's Gate, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil and Elder Scrolls to name a few). Kosuke Fujishima, the chief designer also known for the anime Ah! My Goddess, has carved a niche for himself and the Tales line of entertainment, of which Vesperia marks the 10th edition.

Vesperia plays a little naive, which explains a similar attraction to Tales of Symphonia (which immediately precedes Vesperia) which came out over four years ago. That's a long time for video game development, so the worst that can be said about Vesperia is that it doesn't break any new ground. RPGs have also matured and indeed, there a lot of great titles are on the shelf. However, Tales has taken the time and experience to craft a nearly flawless vision for how JRPGs should be presented.

If you possess any hardness or cynical mannerisms you will have to check these sensibilities at the door. It is a NICE game, and a visceral treat. A good addition to a gamers catalog, and a bonus if you play with younger family members, since the storytelling caters to a younger readership (although there is a lot of Disney style fighting.)

A common comparison has been made toward Eternal Sonata, but I have to question the wisdom of this as the differences between these two games are stark. Admittedly, the characters I find from Eternal Sonata are simply enchanting (some of the same voice cast is used in Vesperia), and you grow to actually care about their fate... but like any new family member, familiarity can only prosper with time. Other differences between the two could be argued as part of Vesperia's appeal: lack of a turn-based combat system for instance.

I will update this post as a "living document"; as gameplay is furthered, there will be additional information in this review for consideration.

Guitar Hero World Tour 7.5/10

Ok, I have played through the whole game in a solo career, and this one has a lot of ups and downs. First off I have been seeing a lot of people complaining about the guitars and drums coming defective out of the box. I don't know about this myself, I just got the game itself and used my trusty GH2 Explorer that works on EVERY rock guitar game on the 360. The song list is WAAYY too similar to Rock Band 2, but there are some GH4 exclusive gems in here that I like. BUT, for the most part, the set list just plain SUCKS, so I will just give the highlights of the game.

First, the new gems are a LITTLE smaller to make room for three tracks on the screen at one time. The slide gems designed for the new guitar can also be activated just as easily on any guitar, (and yes ALL of your Rock Band stuff will work with it). The first really cool moment is when you get to a triple Tool song setlist. Anyone who has ever been to a Tool concert will know what to expect here. There is no stage, no musicians, just a really freaky kaleidoscope display with a giant eyeball in the middle. If you get a chance, let a friend play the Tool songs and just watch the screen, it was really cool. The guitar battles are early in the game and there are only 2, Zakk Wylde and Ted Nugent. The battles are a LOT easier (I played the whole game on Hard) in fact the WHOLE game is easier than any Guitar Hero I have ever played. I almost failed out on Trapped Under Ice and Hot For Teacher at the end, but other than that, I was fine.

At the end of certain setlists some celebrities will come out for a two song set, the Drummer from Blink 182, (I can't remember his name), Sting, ............ and then Jimi Hendrix!!!! .......... and later on Ozzy comes out for Mr Crowley and Crazy Train. Really cool stuff.

I COULD give away what happens during the final set list, but it is too awesome a surprise for me to do that, so if you REALLY wanna know, read someone else's review, or play the game to the end.

Overall there are some areas where you will get bored with some of the crappy songs, many of which it seems were picked to show off the new slide feature. But the rest of the game makes up for it. The custom guitars are really cool to make, but the custom character thing is lacking big time compared to Rock Band 1 or 2.

Here's hoping for some good download content over the next year.

So I bought MK vs DC today and all my fears were put to rest as the game is fun!!

The fighting is pretty fluent once you get the timing down, but new comer's to MK's fighting style wont be disapointed.

Lots of combos and specials and veriaty of Fatalaties and Brutalities

The Free Fall Kombat is really cool and the Test Your Might mini games are awsome.

The story, so far, is nothing special. It sets up fights really well and is pretty much just what you could expect from such a game. The voice acting, however, is not so great, but hell, thats not what I bought the game for, so I'm ok with that.

The story allows you to choose wether you wan to play from the MK or DC side of things, so the replay ability is there.

Graphics arnt bad.

Load times and transitions are goods.

Each character has a different fighting style so it never feels like your just playing as the same character wich is very good.

There could have been more game modes, though. You get story and arcade and thats pretty much it so far.

Hopefully we'll see some downloadable characters or content in the future.

MK vs DC gets a 4 out of 5 IMO.

You're better off reading it there than me copy/pasting the whole thing over here.

The short of it is:
It's enjoyable, but it doesn't quite reach magnificence. It needs more polish. It could be really great, but it doesn't quite make it. Has some great elements, some so-so elements, but nothing out right horrible or broken. Lots of elements that aren't implemented as well as they could be, or aren't used as they should be. But overall, it's a decent RPG.

No. I think Lost Odyssey was better. There's just too many characters in Infinite Undiscovery for you to really form any solid attachments. The Lost Odyssey characters have a lot more depth to them, plus there's the dreams that add so much to the story. And some gorgeous cinematics, which are sadly lacking from IU. Lost Odyssey is a really beautiful and moving game, and IU just sort of picks at your emotions. Things just aren't developed enough, and major events have less impact (for various reasons - implementation, voice acting, mediocre graphics where there should be fabulous cut scenes).

Neither is a 10-star game. Both ride somewhere between a 6 and an 8 with LO on the higher end. But IU IS a good game.

Again, I'm not sure why more people (here and elsewhere) aren't lauding LO as a **** (4-star) game. What are they looking for? I never feel like anything is lacking when I play this game, and in some cases gameplay exceeds my expectations.

I've always felt this was like Final Fantasy 0 or somesuch... the art direction is second to none. My wife thinks it is the best looking game on the XBox; she may be right.

Again, no one has criticized LO either, but when Gamespot gives it a 7.5 there is something untaut with the fabric of the universe.

8/10 purely because I love Street Fighter, and the game play didn't let me down.

Man what a trip to the past playing this game. As promised by Capcom, it is almost exactly like playing the old SF II games. A very well done remake with decently cool new characters.

The standard arcade run, where you get all of your character endings is a bit short. 4 or 5 fights, then the boss, who by the way is HARD AS HELL. He is a little bit of a MK rip off cuz he uses special moves from other characters. (Shang Tsung anyone?) In the first match when you meet him he uses Dhalsim's long arm punch a lot. I have also seen him do Guile's Sonic Boom, Ken and Ryu's Hadoken as well as Shoryuken, and Zangief's big spinning pile driver move. He's FAST and doesn't let up, not sure how I'm gonna take him on in the harder difficulty settings.

There's also a pretty cool challenge mode, pick from time trial, survival, or executing a preset of various moves. As you move through the rankings in these you unlock dress colors and new taunts for the characters. Unlocking hidden characters is done by finishing the arcade mode with various fighters.

There seems to be a large emphasis on online play, there are a bunch of medals for doing certain things online, I don't have Xbox Live so I haven't tried any of them.

Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Sqaud

8 out of 10

Katana's, zombies, and bikini clad women. Is this the next Rob Zombie movie? Nope, it seems that it is a re-release of a 2 year old Japanese hack and slash title for Xbox 360. I had not heard of this game until I saw it in the upcoming games section of EBGames.com. I decided to try it and man it is fun.

You run around, and kill legions of zombies with swords, what more could you ask for? The story seems to be, that the 2 lead characters, who you can switch back and forth during gameplay with the press of a button, have a rare blood in their system that makes them strong. I haven't really figured out why there are zombies though. It seems that their rare blood can have its power magnified by their skin getting covered in the blood of the zombies, hence a perfectly good explanation for them wearing bikinis. :-d All of the dialogue is in Japanese so be prepared to read subtitles. Another rather cool addition to the gameplay, there is a sword in your status area, that slowly turns red from the hilt to the point as you slay zombies, and if the sword icon turns completely red, your swords are useless and will get stuck in zombies. You then have to hit a button and watch as she swings the blades downward to shake off all the blood from the blades! Interesting little twist to the gameplay there. There is a third playable character that uses guns, but I haven't unlocked her yet.

The reason I gave the game an 8, the game is pretty basic and straight forward. It DOES have 20 levels, and they get bigger as you go, with more and more hordes of zombies. So there is plenty of play time, but its not like its an RPG or a GTA game that lasts 100 hrs. The game also isn't for everyone. In case you haven't guess it does indeed have an M rating, and unless you are just in LOVE with the idea of killing hordes of zombies with a hot bikini clad girl carrying katana blades, it will only hold your interest long enough to beat the game.

7 out of 10

Burnout and GRID fans be ware. Race Pro is a basic, bare bones sim racer. It isn't nearly as flashy as the likes of Gran Turismo and Forza.

It is however, what it promises to be. An accurate racer, with a good challenge. I have only played it for a few races with the first car (a Mini Cooper) but there are much faster cars pictured on the review sites. The gameplay itself reminds me of Forza, but it is a little harder to keep the car on track, much like Project Gotham racing games are.

This game is worth playing if you REALLY like racing games like I do. With a game like this, I can zone out, race my car and listen to MP3s all day. I don't need crash physics and jumps over buildings to keep my attention in a racing game. All I ask is that the car is reasonably controllable, the AI gives me some form of challenge for the finish line, and the difficulty curve isn't ridiculous.

Need for Speed Undercover

8.5 out of 10

Many people have given up on Need for Speed. Pro Street was a JOKE. I hated it. Someday I would like to give it another try and get the really fast cars, but it mostly sucked and the tracks were terrible.

So lets talk about Undercover. Again, they try to have a storyline. I actually kind of enjoyed the story line that flowed through the 2 Undergrounds, Carbon, and Most Wanted. This time you are going undercover to catch car thieves, very XXX like. But the important part, its a racer, how does it play?

At first, I was moderately pleased with the gameplay. Cops are back, you have a whole big city to drive through. There are hazards you can trigger to take out cops chasing you etc. I basically went through the semi annual motions of playing what has been my favorite racing franchise since 1998. Then I got near the end.

The races got hard, but not too hard. The cops became a serious problem and escaping them meant actually paying attention and driving for my life. I still didn't really care about the story, it was the beefed up challenge that the 2nd half of the game was giving me. Driving nearly 250 mph in souped up Porche down long stretches of interstate with 20 cops on me. I was loving it. My only complaint was ........ the cop SUVs could catch me. Show me an SUV that can do 250? Still I had a lot of fun finishing this game. The first half was easy and a little repetitive, but the 2nd half made up for it.

I also walked away with 810 achievement points for my Gamerscore, not too shabby. :-d
Shen if you like Burnout so much, I highly suggest trying GRID. It pretty much got racer of the year unofficially last year. Burnout is a close #2 though. I actually have recently started playing the Burnout Ultimate Box. The motorcycle racing is done really well. I saw that the next new DLC is going to be a new island or something, sounds cool eh?
Is Grid like Gran Turismo? I'm more into the arcade racers than the simulation type. I always leaned more towards Need For Speed, Test Drive, Midnight Club, etc...even NASCAR was fun for a while.

WATHMEN: THE END IS NIGH

So I went into this game not expecting much at all, but came out pleased.

The game's story in introduced through movie panels of Dave Gibbons-esc art. There is a prison riot and Nite Owl and Rorschach are arriving to help out, but the prison warrden warns them to leave immediatly or his men will taken the "damn costumed vigilantees." They land to help out anyway.

The game is a beat-em-up plain and simple. But not in the sence that your finding yourself only hitting X the entire game.

Throughout the game you pick up various combos that are very satisfying to pull off. Some enemies drop weapons witch you can use to pull off special attacks with that are very violent and gratifying.

The graphcs are better than what you would find in a PS2 or original Xbox game, but not stunning or amazing at all. Good none the less. The game is very dark and fits the Watchmen mood very well.

The controlls are a little stiff and the camera tens to be all over the place given the amount of moving you have to do through the game, but the camera is easily centered with a quick click of the right thumb stick.

There isn't much depth at all to the game, but it never came off as lazy. Like I said, it's a beat-em-up plain and simple, and for only 20$ it's deffinatly a cool way for you and a friend to blow off a few hours.

If you're big into Watchmen, you'll deffinatly dig it. If not, you can deffinatly go without it.

Holy sh!t ............. I had to use an explitive, this game is THAT awesome. God of War fans rejoice, there is a comparable game for the Xbox 360 now. I played the first level so far. Those of you that remember playing God of War for the first time will know the feeling of playing this game for the first time. You dive out of an airplane into Tokyo in 2015, the whole city has been turned into zombies ........... zombies that are F@&KING VICOUS!!!! They are mean and fast!!! You crash into a window in a skyscraper after attacking some flying zombie bird things, and the onslaught starts fast! Wielding dual katana blades you start hacking away at a bunch of people sized zombies and before you know it, you spend about 20 minutes battling, and then chasing this HUGE red Hulk looking zombie around a giant sky scraper, that breaks in half in the middle of the battle I might add ......... and finally you have a firey showdown with him on a roof top.

Just like in God of War, you have attacks that will pop up a series of buttons on the screen to press to take him down, as well as dodge his attacks and falling debris.

The game is obviously very violent, so if that's your bag GET IT!!! Its like playing a scifi/horror anime movie!!

Resident Evil 5

Gameplay - Solid, if you liked Resident Evil 4 then you will like this. I can see the complaints from the old-school fans about how this series has become more of an action-horror game than a atmospheric-horror game. It is true, no dispute. Its not a big deal for me personally, as I just want a game to be fun and give me bang for my buck. This game will. If I give this game half the play-throughs I gave to RE4, then it was worth $60. The new Co-Op feature is fantastic if you can find a solid player. Tons of reasons to keep coming back for more.

5/5

Graphics - Absolutely gorgeous, its only 720P, but honestly who cares??? One of the best looking games this generation. Bar none. Bravo Capcom!

5/5

Sound - Again, top of the line audio. Everything from the sound of cocking your gun to reload to the voice acting (campy B movie intact!) to the sounds of crows calling in the background is splendid. The game doesn't deliver the same creepy atmosphere like the games of old, and sound is a big reason why. It is great for what it is though.

4/5

Controls - This is where the game shines for me personally, I don't think there is an third person shooter on the market that you pick up and feel right home right away. Until now. The controls are responsive & tight and with the RE4 over the shoulder aiming system, popping Manjini heads like pimples with the pull of a trigger hasn't been this easy since............. well RE4.

5/5

Plot - The story is meh, typical Resident Evil and predictable. I'm not a huge story guy anyway when it comes to games, as long as its fun, I'll play it. If I want a good story, I'll watch a movie or read a book.

3/5

Replay Value - Extremely high, if you like Resident Evil, you will like this. Some would say its RE4.5...and that has some merit. But thats not nessacarily as bad thing. At all. Co-Op online just packs on the replay value to what is already a close to perfect game.

5/5

Bottom Line - Buy this game, don't care if you have a 360 or PS3. You must own this game. This game isn't as much as I hoped for, but its by no means a disapointment. If you just want a fun game that will give you 10-20 hours on a playthrough, this is your game. Game of The Year Candidate for certain.

Overall - 5/5

Great gem of a beat-em game that was sadly overlooked by many because it was released nearly at the end of the Super Nintendo's (SNES) life when most gamers had already moved on to the Playstation, Sega Saturn, and even the N64 by 1996. What a shame, because Capcom really delivered in what was a sort-of-sequel to X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse also released on SNES.

It had some great looking 2D graphics, very impressive for SNES. The gameplay was top-notch as it mixed beat-em gameplay with fighting game styled move-sets. You could play as Wolverine, Spider-Man, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man. Your goal was to gather the Infinity Gems and to battle various Super-Villains in various Marvel Universe locations. A thrill for comic fans and beat-em up game fans.

However it had a couple bad-points for it:
1. The cover art was boring. Come on, it was based off of a comic, you could have slapped all kinds of awesome stuff from the Marvel vault on that plain grey cartridge, instead we simply get a label that reads "Marvel Super-Heroes: War of the Gems." That's it, no artwork on the sticker for you.

2. It's HARD! It took me a while of trial and error before I finally beat this borderline torturous game. They don't give you break in the beginning areas.

3. The Hulk looks freaking ridiculous. I mean seriously, what is he doing when you just stand there? It looks like he's trying to make himself vomit.

Capcom does it again! Duck Tales is a masterpiece of a platformer for the NES. The house that brought us Mega Man, Ghouls N Ghosts, Street Fighter II, and Resident Evil proves that licensed games don't have to be crap.

In Duck Tales you play as Uncle Scrooge who is using his vast fortune to get even richer. You are sent to different parts of the world to discover rare and valuable treasures. These areas are in fact your levels. There you will run, jump, and "pogo-jump" over various obstacles, spikes, pits, and enemies in an attempt to collect as much treasure as possible in each level. At the end of each level is a boss who is guarding the rare treasure of that level that you must defeat.

The formula sounds a bit generic, I know. But the greatness of the game is in it's details. The controls are spot on. It is a blast to use the "pogo-jump" (Uncle Scrooge uses his cane much like a pogo-stick) to get around and to solve puzzles. Uncle Scrooge can also use his cane to whack various objects with varying results. The graphics are also just amazing for the NES. This game must push the NES to it's limits graphically. It is bright, colorful, and quite detailed. The sound is also very memorable on this game. But in the end, it's just a LOT of fun to play.

I highly recommend this game to any gamer who can enjoy a platformer. It is an appropriate game for both young and old gamers and is a timeless classic.

This game absolutely blew me away back in the day. It is an absolute masterpiece of 2D gaming. Made by SNK fairly late in the NES's lifespan. This was a 2D, top-down view, action-RPG similar to The Legend of Zelda in it's gameplay style. However, I feel that it was superior to the original Legend of Zelda in every way. I'm sure many people feel differently, but that's my opinion.

Crystalis follows the adventure of a warrior sent from the future. He is sent back in time to stop an evil and very powerful dictator from taking over the world before he gains his full power in the past. The game begins with you waking up from your time machine in the past and emerging from the cave it is housed in and into a small village. It is in that small village that your adventure begins. You will battle many monsters and minions and their powerful masters in your quest to rid the world of this great evil.

The game is very impressive, graphically, for an NES game. The sound is just as impressive. There are a number of areas, dungeons, caves, and towns to explore. Unlike Legend of Zelda, there are also a number of NPCs to interact with as well as storyline that you can follow. Another improvement over Legend of Zelda is the ability to level-up your character. You can gain sword and armor upgrades like in Zelda, but alongside that you still get the character level-ups; making the game that much more satisfying in the end. The game is also a bit more challenging in the later areas of the game than Zelda ever was.

So if you're a fan of the original Legend of Zelda, you must check out this game. It is well worth it's price and your time.

I'm a comic geek. I have been for 20 years. Since I could read, I was reading about the exploits of Green Lantern, Superman, Spider-Man, and the X-Men. The X-Men was more of a kid only love, as an adult I'm pretty sick of X-Men everywhere in the Marvel Universe. Nonetheless this game is STILL a favorite of mine.

This follows the adventures of the 90s X-Men team in your classic 2D, beat-em up style. While the game didn't revolutionize anything, it was very well made and quite polished. This was put out by one of the top game-makers in the world: Capcom. The same company behind Mega Man, Ghouls N Ghosts, Street Fighter II, and Resident Evil.

It had great graphics and great sound for a SNES game, and it played like a dream. You can choose between playable X-Men Wolverine, Psylocke, Gambit, Beast, or Cyclops. Each have their own, unique, intro-level. After that you choose which X-Man you will use in a level-by-level endevour of fighting many, many minions, dodging automated defenses, and battling super-powered bosses.

The thing that really set this game apart from other beat-em ups were the moves. You have your basic attack moves and of course the ability to jump. But this game also added fighting-game style button combos that would produce special attacks or allow you to use your mutant powers. It was also based off of the comics and had many characters and locations that fans will recognize and enjoy seeing.

I highly recommend this game to any SNES owner, young or old. This game is polished, it's a lot of fun, and it's pretty common and cheap.

This is hands-down of the greatest games to ever come out on the NES, and in my book, that's really saying something. But what more would you expect from the house that brought you Mega Man, Duck Tales, Street Fighter II, and Resident Evil? That's right, this is a Capcom classic here.

This game perfectly blends the genres of side-scrolling platformer and run-n-gun action game perfectly. It's 2D bliss. The gameplay mechanics are easy to pick up, yet difficult to master at the same time. Something a lot game developers have completely neglected to do nowadays. When you do master the game mechanics, the game just flows. The graphics are quite impressive for an NES game. And the music is some of the greatest music you have ever heard in an NES game.

You play as the army's latest and greatest super-soldier known simply as The Bionic Commando. Your mission is to infiltrate enemy lines, collect important information and weapons along the way, and to ultimately rescue capture soldier and American hero: Super Joe. You battle hordes of enemy soldiers and weaponry that has an uncanny resemblence to WWII Nazis. The catch is you have a bionic arm grafted to you that leaves you too heavy to jump. Instead you use your bionic arm to grapple to objects and climb them, or too swing from objects like Spider-Man or Tarzan.

Along the way you'll collect power-up items and new weapons, and the enemies and obstacles involving using your bionic become harder and harder. But NES players don't fret, even though this get can get difficult, there is a continue option, and if you play your cards right you can have unlimited continues. In between levels there is a world map you use to travel from level to level. On that world map are also "tanks", and if those tanks cross your path, you go into a bird's eye view action scene, much like the old "Commando" game. If you defeat the larger enemies in these small arcade-style stages, they will earn you continues.

I highly recommend this game. I still play it after all these years when I want to unwind, it's that good. I personally consider it to be Capcom's crowning jewel for their NES releases.

King's Field is one of those games that I have found that gamers either absolutely love, or absolutely loathe it (or they've never heard of it, haha). I happen to be of the the opinion that it is fan-freaking-tastic!

For me, this was my introduction to the 3 game series. Apparantly there's a 4th game out there that predates this one, unfortunately it's Japanese only so I've never had the privilege of playing it. Nonetheless, this game sucked me in from the moment I stepped onto the rocky beach or Melmut Island. You play as a warrior who is the only survivor of a shipwrecked expedition from a faraway kingdom. You awake on a rocky beach of a dark and mysterious island and from there you're thrust into a dangerous world, on your own, with little to go on. In fact in the beginning you literally start with nothing and have to find and fight for everything you need until you finally arrive at the first town and are able to purchase equipment.

King's Field is a 3D action-RPG with a twist: the game is played from a first-person perspective that is more at home with early first-person shooters such as Doom and Quake. Instead of using guns and fists; you are using swords, axes, bows, and magic spells to battle enemies. The game also has a very heavy emphasis on exploration. There are many paths to explore in this open-ended game, with no real right or wrong way, as well as many hidden walls and areas through-out. Explore a world full of countless monsters, areas, weapons, items, spells, and other loot.

I highly recommend this to RPG fans looking for an immersive game. However to ignore it's flaws would be just be stubborn of me. There is an issue with the slow speed of the character at first. This is what turns many people away from the game at first. Fortunately, as you level up this becomes less of a problem as running no longer fatigues you. All you need is a little patience, as with any RPG. Many people are also turned off by the fact that the game doesn't give you direction. Personally, I think that's why this game shines. You explore the world and go through it in whatever fashion you feel fits. But to each his own.

IMO, this was one of the best games to ever come from the PS1. I like it so much, I play through it and it's two sequels about once a year every year. If you find it, it's also dirt cheap, so by all means pick it up and try it!

This game gets a perfect 10 in my book. It's absolutely mind-boggling how good this game actually is. It is perhaps the greatest game ever created. And then they come along and give us the Game of the Year Editions?! Yowzas! They made perfection, better!

This is the most immersive, the most ambitious, the largest, the longest, the most open-ended, and the most addicting game I have ever played in my nearly 25 years of gaming. I have seen everything from the release of the NES to today and everything in-between. And I have loved a lot of games over years, but as of this review there is no doubt that this was the best of them all.

Oblivion does follow a main-quest story about the death of the kingdom of Tamriel's king. You are a prisoner who happens to get caught-up in the goings on of the king as he accesses a secret passage that just happens to be in your jail cell. Him and the guards basically tell you that it's your lucky day and you get a free pass due to the circumstances. So as you make your way to freedom alongside the king, he is assassinated! As he dies he gives you "The Amulet of the Kings" and tells you that you are destined to determine the fate of the kingdom and with his dying breath tells you to deliver the amulet to his unclaimed son and heir to the throne. After you play through that introduction, you are given the opportunity to create your character. You choose his/her race, his/her specialization or class, his/her skills, his/her strengths and weaknesses, and his/her physical features. From that point on, the game is entirely up to you. You can choose to continue the main quest, ignore it come back to it later as you take other quests and join guilds to take guild-quests, or ignore the main-quest all together and still squeeze dozens of hours out of the game.

First off, the game is beautiful. You will spend a good amount of time just enjoying the scenery, the maticulous detail put into buildings, people, and even armor; or just checking out the spectacular night-time sky. The sound is just as amazing and realistic to boot. But where the game really shines is the sheer size of it and the amount of things to do. You could play this game for a year straight and probably still find things to do! As I already mentioned, there is a main-quest and storyline. There are also multiple guilds you join with their own quests and storylines including: The Fighter's Guild, The Mage's Guild, The Thieve's Guild, the Brotherhood of Assassins, The Arena, and even religious prilgrimages. If that sounds too structured for you, you can just roam the countryside taking random quests as they come up from the townspeople.

Speaking of the countryside, what a countryside it is. It has multiple towns all with their own unique personalities and people. Each town has a healthy population and size and even it's own castle. There is also a capital city that is massive in size. Tons of NPC characters, guards, guild-members, merchants, townspeople, and others populate these towns and cities. In between those towns and cities is a world littered with dungeons, ruins, caves, relics, and monsters that stretches for miles. You could just spends hours upon hours exploring rather than following any quests at all and still rack up a healthy amount of items and gold and gain levels.

As for the level-up system, forget about everything you know about RPGs. Instead of levelling-up by defeating enemies, you level up by using skills. So for example, if you are magic user your magic skills will go up faster. And depending on what kind of magic you use more often (such as Destuction, Restoration, Summoning, etc.), that certain type of magic will also become easier to use. The same thing works with fighters using swords, or thieves that use lockpicking skills a lot, or whatever your class/skills happen to be.

I could not recommend this game more. This game is well worth it's price and very immersive and addicting. It is high-quality in every aspect of the word. The only people I wouldn't recommend it to is young children, as it may be a bit to complicated for them.

Batman and video games have had a bad relationship over the years. The simply titled "Batman" for the NES was the only exception in a long-list of lackluster Batman titles over a two decade span.

Then Eidos released Batman: Arkham Asylum. I have to admit, it took me a while to get around to playing this game just because of the stigma attached to previous Batman games in my mind. Simply put: I didn't believe the hype. So I was skeptical of this game from the get-go.

From the opening scene, I was immeadiatly caught off guard. The graphics and sound is top-notch. The whole part while Joker is being escorted through Arkham Asylum by Commissioner Gordon and Batman is awesome! I love that Kevin Conroy is Batman and Mark Hammil is The Joker (both the respective actors from the Animated Series, and yes it's that Mark Hammil). Who ever wrote the story, seriously understands Batman, and I mean the real Batman from the comics. The Dark Knight. Batman is an obsessed, stubborn, and skilled individual. And he's nearly as disturbed as the criminals he captures. This game captured that perfectly.

The gameplay held up just as well. At first, you're limited in your abilities as Batman. But as you progress you quickly begin acquiring your basic skills, making the game much more fun. Then as you get further, you get cooler and cooler gadgets to play with. The fighting mechanic isn't difficult to control, but is a bit difficult to really master. And that's perfect! There's also a very stealthy element to this game as you hide and attack from air-ducts, or descent down from above onto an unsuspecting thug below.

The point of this game is that The Joker has overtaken Arkham Asylum. He has full control of all systems in the massive facility, and controls the criminal element within it's cells. It's up to you, and you alone, as Batman to infiltrate the many areas and buildings through-out the island complex, take out the super-criminals that are loose, and ultimately stop the Joker and retake Arkham Asylum.

Many fan-favorites make appearances including Commissionor Gordon, Oracle (aka Barbara Gordon), Scarecrow, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc. Scarface, Bane, Poison Ivy, and others.

I do have one small complaint about the game, however, and this why it got a 9.0 instead of the 10 on my review. The event-oriented controls can be a bit annoying at times. There are certain movements and abilities Batman has that are all controlled by the same button, as to what it does depends on where you're standing or what's going on around you. Sometimes this can be annoying if you're intending to do one thing, and Batman does something else completely different. It's not bad enough of a problem to make the game unplayable by any means, but it can be annoying in certain spots.

Other than Halo 3 and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion; this one of the most impressive titles for the 360 I have played to date. I definitely recommend picking this one up.

Just finished a complete straight play-through of the King's Field series. Such a freaking awesome series. I started with an English translation of the original Japanese-only King's Field title, through the Sword of Moonlight program, so it wasn't quite the same game but close enough. I then played through King's Field 1 (U.S.), KF 2, and finally KF: The Ancient City all one right after the other. I've played through all these games before, but never before all of them, one right after the other like this.

The original Japanese-only King's Field was my least favorite in the series. That could have a lot to do with the fact that I wasn't playing it as originally intended, and was instead playing the English translation through The Sword of Moonlight software. The enemies looked weird, the movement of the character wasn't quite right, it was much shorter, and the enemies were a lot tougher until you got to higher levels (which was probably their way of trying to stretch out the short game).

King's Field (U.S.) is a great entry in the series, too. Well worth a play-through for anyone interested in these sort of games. Not very story-driven, more exploration-driven (which exploration-driven is still a good thing), but not quite as large as KF II or KF: The Ancient City.

King's Field II still stands out to me, head-and-shoulders, above the rest in the series. There's a great storyline going on there if you pay attention to what the characters are saying and all the clues laid out before you. It ties the other 2 games before it into it's story wonderfully. And the level-up system of the magics, character, and Excelletor Sword make it even more rewarding when leveling-up than the other King's Field games. Then you add in the unique weapons and armors and larger areas than the 2 games before it and it's a masterpiece for it's era.

King's Field: The Ancient City on PS2 definitely looks the best, though. But them why shouldn't it when it's on the PS2 and the others are PS1 games. It's also the 2nd best game in the series, in all other aspects, as far as I'm concerned. Not as story-driven as KF II, but at the same time it's probably the most exploration-driven game in the series which gives it all kinds of points in my book.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS)

I just beat New Super Mario Bros. 2. But I'm far from finished with it. I still have to unlock the hidden worlds. But I did defeat Bowser.

Great Mario game. I've heard a lot people say it just feels like more of the same. I don't agree. The coin focus really adds a whole new layer to the gameplay and adds a TON of replayability (as if Mario games already didn't have enough). Great classic 2D gameplay, but it looks gorgeous with the 3DS XL screen and the 3D graphics turned on. It was a ton of fun that I just couldn't put down, and I plan on going back for more.

If you have a 3DS, you MUST own this game.

Now I'm going on to conquer "The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds" for 3DS. So far, it's one of the best Zelda games I've played in years. It's good to be a 3DS owner.

Gonna try and add some life to this side of the forum.

Just played through Alien: Isolation and while it was not a perfect game and definitely in the not for the masses category, I loved it.

This game was right up my alley. Nostalgic, story driven, and very INTENSE.... My heart hasn't raced like this during a game since Alan Wake.

It does have a few minor minor annoyances, for one you have to have patience with this one, moving around can be cumbersome and a chore at times, there is also something about the ending I didn't really like(I won't spoil it for any who want to play) just to name a few, but none really took away from my overall enjoyment of the game.

I understand why many don't like this game, but there are many who enjoyed it as much as me. Highly recommend to any horror/Sci-Fi/Alien fan

Went back to Alan Wake to get in some more frights.

This time I played Alan Wake:American nightmare.

Never played through the whole thing only the first act. It definitely brings a lot of the Eeriness that the original introduced. I liked that it expanded the story, though it falls short of the greatness that is in the first. Yet all in all that's ok as this was an Xbox arcade release rather than a full priced game. I think I purchased it for less than $5. It kept me on edge throughout. The only thing I didn't like was the live capture scenes. I would have much preferred cg or in game cut scenes. The live actor made Mr. Scratch kinda doofy. Still though very solid 5-8 hours of intense fun if you like this genre like me.
