I don't think I've ever watched a Sherlock Holmes movies, aside from Young Sherlock Holmes. I didn't think that movie was all that great and probably shouldn't count as one. But this look pretty good. Have a look:

Far more action based than I first imagined. But that's okay I guess..

Im not sure wtf happened when he went "well.. we don't have much time to waste then do we?" and jumps out of the window into the River Thames (well, I presume it was the Thames..).

Looks good though :-)

As a Shelock Holmes fan (AC Doyle books, Basil Rathbone movies, etc.) I can't say I am thrilled about this new "action hero" Holmes. Holmes was more of a thinking man rather than a man of action. In fact in most of the stories, if there was any action it was usually left up to Watson. If you are not familiar with Holmes, and would like to get a flavor of the character rent the Holmes movie starring Frank Langella. It is based upon the stage play and a pretty good movie.

I will see the movie anyway because I really like the character and any Holmes is better than no Holmes. Also, I think Robert Downey Jr. is a great actor (Jude Law as Watson? EH?).

That's true, but you can throw pretty boys into any movie, but chicks aren't going to go to a movie alone, and somehow I think this movie is looking to make a little more money than Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

Also the movie with Gene Wilder, "Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother" it was a funny movie and I haven't thought about it in years. I will have to see if I can find it somewhere. By the way, Holmes did have a smarter brother named Mycroft!

Other Holmes movies that you might want to check out:

The Seven Percent Solution (refers to Holmes addiction to coccaine)
Sherlock Holmes in New York (starring Roger Moore)
Hound of the Baskervilles (there are a couple of version's of this one)
Any of the Basil Rathbone Holmes movies from the 40's (most were updated to take place in the 40's but they were still fun to watch).
Or the DC comic series from the 70's ( I think it ran only a couple of issues).

Or you could even read one of the stories by AC Doyle.

Well the Trailers are meant to get your attention, so though it may look real actiony, you never know what you'll get. Hell, The Happening looked like a good movie in the trailer, look what happened to it.
