I'm currently re-reading a bunch of 90s Green Lantern issues. I started with The Emerald Twilight storyline (GL v3 #46-51) and have been continuing onwards from there.

I just finished "Capitol Punishment" (Guy Gardner: Warrior #27-28 & Green Lantern #60) where Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner team-up against Major Force (who killed Kyle's girlfriend in issue #54), and Guy Gardner kills Major Force.

I'm about to start Green Lantern/Sentinel: Heart of Darkness where Alan Scott & Kyle Rayner team-up and Jade loses her powers.

Been reading alot of back issues the past few months.
Currently I'm reading
Amazing Spider-Man (started with issue 300,I'm up to 390 now)

Uncanny X-Men (started back in the 130's.Up to 291 on it)

Cyberforce(90's volume) (started with the first issue in the mini.Up to issue 28 on it). This book seemed alot better when it first came out when I was in high school.lol.I'm making a vow to finish it,now matter how rough it gets.

Tomb Raider (started with issue 1.I'm up to around issue 30).This book is alot better than one would expect. It's one of those fun reads if you go in with an open mind.

Then there is the sporatic back issue.Like
Tales Of The Green Lantern Corps. It's a 3 issue mini series from the 80's.I only have the first issue but it was so awesome that I just ordered the 2nd and 3rd issues tonight here on CCL.

I just read Dark Knight, Dark City from Batman #452-454. Very weird story about the Riddler trying to summon a demon. I had heard about the story from an article on weird panels out of context. The panel from this book is Batman cutting a baby's throat. I said it was weird, didn't I? Anyway, I enjoyed it since the Riddler is one of my favorite Bat-Villains and he was a little crazier than usual in this story.
Werewolf by night [72 series] or is that 73 oh will it the series from the 70s good stuff
The Ploog titles from the 70's are great, too bad he didn't stick around too long on them. The WWBN, also the Man-Thing issues were good, Frankenstein, tough to grade those without stopping & reading them.

I don't get to read too much these days but a couple years ago I got the reprints of Cerebus 1-50, wound up reading all the way to 112, what good stuff. The letters from the editor & the reader letters are half the enjoyment so the complete reprints are the way to go. Toward the end it was fascinating in a car-wreck sort of way, the reader backlash after the rape issue sent the title into a tailspin & it never recovered, but it was great while it lasted. I think the Mick Jagger / Keith Richards parody in 85 & the Secret Sacred Wars parody in 81-84 are some of the biggest LOL issues ever, can probably find them for under a buck too.

I agree. I don't know what it is about older comics but they are more enjoyable to read then new comics although i'll read both.

Hi Chris, your Defenders are on the way. What's funny is when I was double checking those I wound up leafing through one of those Wrecking Crew issues, don't worry I was careful, lol.

One of my all time favorite stories was the first Byrne run in FF, the whole Galactus vs Sphinx storyline while the FF are fighting the effects of the Skrull aging ray. What's funny is when Byrne came back to the FF a year later with issue 232 his style had changed quite a bit, not sure what was up with that.

I can't help you much on Flash, but I do know that the Mark Waid run in the 90s was pretty cool.

As for Green Lantern, it matters on what era you really want to get into:

If it's the Golden Age, then there's DC Archives, unless you've got a lot of dough to spend because Golden Age Green Lantern are some of the priciest issues out there. All-American Comics #16 is the first appearance of the original Green Lantern (Alan Scott), and then he gets his own self-titled comic (Green Lantern (vol. 1)) starting with #1, naturally.

If it's the Silver Age, then I'd suggest starting from the beginning: Showcase #22 (there are plenty of reprints if price is a problem) then of course Green Lantern #1 (vol. 2) and continuing from there. There are DC Archives of these, as well.

For Post-Crisis Green Lantern, then you need to start with Green Lantern (vol. 2) #193-#200 and Green Lantern Corps #201. These are essential for the changes that happen from the Crisis, and then the post-crisis set-up for the GL Corps. Then you need to immeadiatly read Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn (6-issue mini-series) which is Hal Jordan's Post-Crisis origin. Emerald Dawn II (also a 6-issue mini-series) is a nice add-on to it if you enjoy Emerald Dawn I, but not necessary. It's the Post-Crisis origin of Sinestro and Hal's first meeting with him.

If you're into Kyle Rayner, then Green Lantern (vol. 3) #46, #48-51, and #54 are absolutely essential issues. It shows the downfall of Hal Jordan as he's overtaken by Parallax then destroys the Green Lantern Corps and Guardians of the Universe. Followed by the origin of Kyle Rayner, and in issue #54 is the reason he REALLY decides to get responsible and become a hero.

And finally, if you want to just follow the modern Geoff Johns take on Green Lantern, then I'd start with Green Lantern: Rebirth #1-6 which re-introduces Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner as active Green Lanterns and returns Sinestro to the DC Universe as a major villain. After, just follow the superb Green Lantern (vol. 4) series which continues straight into the currently running Green Lantern (vol. 5) which was changed VERY little story and continuity-wise by the New 52 changes. The Secret Origin storyarc in Green Lantern (vol. 4) is supposedly the modern origin of Hal Jordan, but in reality it's more like the set-up to the Red Lanterns' introduction into the Green Lantern mythos.

I recently bought most of the entire Doom 2099 issues and tie-ins for cheap not too long ago, and I've been reading it and really enjoying it.

Well I just started getting through the highly-recommended Warren Ellis issues which begins with issue #26 (in the pic). I'm up to about issue #33 when Alchemex makes their own Captain America to stand against Doom.

And I've got to say, I'm QUITE disappointed. I think Warren Ellis's run on this series is praised for no other reason than it's Warren Ellis. Because his run hasn't been nearly as good as the 25 issues prior.

He's going for this big, epic storyline where Doom takes control of America. The problem is that while he's reaching for this great epic storyline for the 2099 Universe, he's completely lost the character of Doom. Instead of being the fully-fleshed out character that was neither fully hero nor fully villain that I had read for the last 25 issues, Doom becomes a stale archetype of his old villain self (and I mean "stale", because when villain Doom is written right, he's an amazing villain). Ellis also immediately kills off two main-characters in Prophet and Wire when he takes over, which is another big disappointment. And while that cover looks great, the inner-artwork definitely took a dive.

I'm gonna keep reading this until the end, and hope there's a big pay-off. But all those people praising Warren Ellis's run on Doom 2099, have really disappointed me. I wish they would have kept the old creative team around to end this series.

I LOVED Inferno when I was a kid! I didn't collect X-Men at all, but the tie-ins affected several of the books I did collect. I liked the idea so much that I decided to search out all the Inferno books (main issues and tie-ins). I had a lot of fun searching them out at all the convenience stores around town. Out of all the mutant crossovers of the old days, I think Inferno got the most participation from Marvel writers. It was just a great story idea that really allowed writers to do some crazy stuff (Daredevil fighting a vacuum cleaner, for example).
