Million Dollar Superman Comics Are Flying Off The Shelves!

Not mine. Sadly, I don't have any million dollars comics of any kind. =((

But some people do! Back in November a copy of Superman #1 sold for a whopping 9.12 million US dollars. It was graded 9.0 which is insane considering how old it is. The people found it in their parent's attic and it was in almost perfect condition. That wasn't the only one they found either because apparently there was a stash. Lucky bastards! >:) Doesn't everyone of us wish for something like that! 8->

But that record didn't stand for long because this happened: Rare first Superman comic once stolen from Nicolas Cage sells for $15m. What a crazy story! Another 9.0 :-t and was owned by Nickolas Cage until someone stole it from his house during a party. Dozen years later some guy found it in a storage locker that he had bought it in a foreclosure auction. He gave it back to Cage who sold it to someone who sold it to someone for 15 million. @-)

Man, if I could have a time machine or the superpower to travel through time I would go back with a handful of Lincoln Wheat pennies, Mercury dimes, Standing Liberty quarters, Walking Liberty half dollars, and Peace dollars and clean out some spinner rack at a local five-and-dime. 8->

Wasn't there a legal battle going on between Nic Cage and his insurance company? Cage had the Action #1 insured, and they paid out for it. After the book was recovered, they argued the book belonged to them (kind of like when a car insurance company pays for your car, they then take possession of the totaled vehicle). Never heard how that was resolved.

When I was a kid, we talked about going back in time to buy old comics, with the caveat we couldn't bring the books with us back forward in time. So we'd think of where we could stash the books where they would be undisturbed for future recovery. I guess we had Back to the Future Part III on the brain.
