The Planetary team of Elijah Snow, Jakita, and the Drummer patiently await the return a General to his home, where they coerce him into discussing some secret history about a man named David Paine, who developed a means of piercing though to other realities via a bomb. In a tale reminiscent of the creation of the Hulk, Paine gets caught in the bomb blast and transformed into a gray, hulking brute. The military corrals him and drops him in a deep mine along with a nuke where it takes him 21 years to die. A daughter was born to him six months after the accident.
