Item Bio
"Captain America Joins the Avengers"

The Avengers, while hunting for Namor in Arctic waters, find a body frozen in a block of ice. They recover it, and let the ice melt, discovering that the figure is clad in the iconic costume of the World War II freedom fighter, Captain America, long considered by the world to be dead. Miraculously, once the ice is melted, the man revives, although disorientated. He is, in fact, Steve Rogers, the original Captain America, who had slept unaged in suspended animation all these years. The Avengers invite him to join them, and Cap agrees.

Reprinted in Avengers Annual #3.

This printing was 1 of 20 reprints of Marvel comics that was available from the 1993 JC Penney Christmas Catalog. The set was sold for $14.99. This edition was almost identical to the original, except that the advertisements were replaced with modern products. Unlike the 1992 and 1994 Marvel Vintage Packs, "Second Printing" was not added to the indicia. It is easily identifiable by the X-Men videos ad on the back cover.

The complete set consisted of:

Avengers (1963) #4C
Captain America (1968) #241C and 371B
Excalibur (1988) #27B
