*”My idea behind making Moya a bio-mechanoid, a living being, was to make the ship itself a character in the drama. When some other ship fires on Moya we aren't just worried about Crichton and the others inside, but we fear for Moya's life, as well. Also, the fact that the ship has a mind of her own and doesn't have to do what her passengers tell her is a great source of drama. I named her species Leviathans because I saw Moya as a large, majestic space-faring beast, not unlike the great whales of Earth." *Source: Back of card
