"The Mirrors of Kharam-Akkad"

Something has Kharam-Akkad spooked, but why? What could the High Priest of Makkalet fear, with all his sorcerous power? It is this; he has seen a vision, in his mirrors, of a lion, an eagle, a serpent, and his own death at the hands of the Cimmerian, Conan.

He tells us the story of "The Mirrors of Tuzun Thune." He tells of how King Kull and Brule went to see a wizard who possessed mirrors that when gazed upon revealed the future. He tells how as a young peasant boy; he, Kharam-Akkad, came to possess these mirrors and how they gave him power.

Conan is captured yet again by the King's guard and brought before the High Priest, who means to kill him in order to save his own life. He forces Conan to look into the mirrors and face his own demons.

Meanwhile, Yezdigerd and his Turanian soldiers camped in the hills outside the city, march on Makkalet once more.
