This story opens with a flashback of Green Arrow and Black Canary in a hand to hand fight with Kobra, giving another glimpse of their early relationship.

Cut to present, where Green Lantern and Speedy observe Dinah and Craig Windrow, her ex-husband, as they take Sin, the child trained to be the next Lady Shiva, for her first day of school at the Pace Academy in Star City. Little do they know, they are also being observed by Merlyn, long time nemesis of Green Arrow. In a meeting with leaders of the League of Assassins, Merlyn declares he was actually responsible for Sin???s admission into the school where she will be an easy target. After waiting for a few days, to allow the heroes to drop their guard, ninjas of the League of Assassins strike the school in a bold attempt to kidnap Sin...
