Iron Man is down and out, and Half-Face's lackey, the Titanium Man is preparing to destroy a North Vietnamese village and pin it on the US Military. Iron Man rallies, and at the last minute, Half-Face finds that his family lives in the village, changing his allegiances. A mysterious visitor waits to see Stark, and stuns the guard to gain access.

Captain America and SHIELD Agent Sharon Carter are captive of AIM and the mysterious MODOK. They finally face their captor and learn of his shocking form and awesome power. Factions of AIM fear and hate MODOK, and use Captain America's struggle for freedom as a chance to assassinate their tyrannical ruler.
