"Prisoners of Doctor Doom!"
The mysterious Dr. Doom launches an attack on the Baxter Building, taking the Fantastic Four prisoner. Reed recognizes him as his college roommate, a genius who was obsessed with the occult, who ultimately had an accident that terribly scarred him and got him ejected from school. Since that day, he wears an armored mask and bears a grudge against Reed, who he blames for the accident.
The team are taken to Doom's Latverian castle, and sent on a mission back in time to recover the treasure of Blackbeard the Pirate. The treasure includes gems of great power that belonged to Merlin the Magician.
First appearance of Doctor Doom (Victor Von Doom).
