Item Biography

"Duel to the Death with the Vulture!" (14 pages)

New York City is living with a new menace, the eerie Vulture, a man who soundlessly flies like the scavenger after which he is named. His string of crimes has made him legendary in just a short time. Aunt May gives Uncle Ben's old miniature camera to Peter, and he gets the bright idea that if he can photograph the elusive Vulture, he could get top dollar for the shots. He fights and defeats the Vulture, and sells the pictures to J. Jonah Jameson with the understanding that JJJ can never ask how he got the shots.

First appearance of Vulture (Adrian Toomes).

Reprinted in Amazing Spider-Man Annual #7.

"The Uncanny Threat of the Terrible Tinkerer!" (10 pages)

Peter Parker's skills in Midtown High's science classrooms have been noticed, and his teacher get's Peter an apprenticeship with Professor Cobbwell's lab. One of his first assignments is to pick up a radio at the repair shop of the Tinkerer. Peter does so, but his spider sense is going mad. When he later investigates as Spider-Man, he finds that the Tinkerer is in league with aliens. He has been planting spy devices into the electronics that he repairs so that the aliens can gather intelligence about the human race before their invasion.
