Batroc's team of mercenaries break Mister Hyde out of Ryker's Island. They soon come to regret this when they realize that the promise of a million dollars reward for doing thus, was a hoax perpetrated by Hyde himself.
Batroc is initially outraged at the deception, but soon compliant when Hyde promises the lure of even greater wealth.
Steve Rogers shares a breakfast with Bernie Rosenthal.
Hyde's real plan is to hijack a Roxxon Oil super-tanker in the waters off New York harbor and hold the city to ransom. At Batroc's request, Cap is supplied as a hostage with the ransom money.
