I must say that the simplicity of Moritat’s pencil and ink style has grown on me. I have enjoyed his work in Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheet? And now in The Spirit. I am well aware that my opinion may not be shared by others, but then again that is the nature of taste.
David Hines does a solid job with the script and keeps The Spirit going with dramatic and comedic elements that balance well no matter what the story is. In this issue we see a more beefed up Spirit almost resembling the Batman in physique. We also see more of Ebony and Imani as supporting characters; characters that keep The Spirit in the realm of humanity where he is best portrayed.
I continue to enjoy this title because of the added feature of seeing The Spirit in black and white in the back pages of every issue, as originally published.
