The Team learns of the origins of Azael, a mutant from biblical times who was cast out from Earth to a parallel plane when he tried to take over the world. They also learn his plan to return to Earth and take over again and that is why, from time to time, he returns to father children so they can open a gateway to his realm. Professor X, Annie and Polaris travel to the last known site where the X-Men where when Polaris finds a rift in space that she opens, in the middle of the mutant known as Abyss. Meanwhile, the battle at Sammy's house rages on between Juggernaut and Alpha Flight.
