He's back again and this time he has not only resurrected his body but his original purpose for living, to rule the world. Magneto shows up at the end of the funeral for Ilyana as he wants to gather all mutants to leave the Earth before they punish all of humanity but the X-Men will not follow, at least most of them. Magneto makes his proposal as he shows them how powerful he has become but he cannot account for Bishop's mutant powers to overcome his grip on the team. In the end, Peter, after loosing everything, joins Magneto's cause as Charles expels both Magneto and his new space base call Avalon from the Earth. But even Charles knows that Magento will return, he always does.
