Cannonball, back at his family farm, gets an unexpected visit by Jon Spectre a man from the future. Spectre tells Sam a story about his fomer mentor and leader of X-Force, Cable. Spectre's tale says that in the future, Cable convinced the Askani Council to allow him to wage his war against the Skornn -- a war that resulted in the death of Spectre's father. Elsewhere, the rest of X-Force sees this encounter and races to Cannonball's aid.
