Cyclops seeks out and confides in former team member Warren Worthington III all of the problems the team has been having as he learns Warren belongs to the very club hunting the X-Men. Cyclops uses this connection so the X-Men can infiltrate the exclusive club and he learns the true identity of Jason Wyngarde, Mastermind. When the team moves in and faces the Inner Circle of the Hellfire Club they are defeated when Jean Grey turns on the X-Men and they are captured except for Wolverine.
