Using a wormhole, Superman finally returns to Earth just as the denizens of Underworld decide to attack Cadmus. Believing that Cadmus has begun a covert germ warfare assault on Underworld clones, their leader Charlie decides to try a non-violent approach and kidnaps Cadmus director Paul Westfield to get some answers.

Not feeling well himself, when Luthor learns of the Underworlder's plight he realizes that there is a deadly plague attacking the clones of Metropolis.
