A Prelude to the Draco
The Baroness Wagner, aka Mystique, who is married to a Barovian Baron uses her shape-shifting abilities to play games on the household staff for fun. But her husband is troubled with the inability to produce an heir, that is until he gets some professional help but Mystique is not so patient. She falls in love with a handsome aristocrat who tricks her into getting pregnant before revealing he too is a mutant, which is where Kurt gets his looks from. The Baron is surprised at her pregnancy and wants tests done but Mystique kills him as her lover disserts her. She is forced to abandon her mutant baby and flee the castle, with only the clothes on her back, never to return again.
