Even though Mister Hyde and Batroc have gained their ransom money from Roxxon Oil, Hyde still intends to fulfil his threat and crash the hijacked super-tanker into the New York docks. His rationale? He feels betrayed by his former partner, Cobra. The Cobra being a creature of habit would be holed up somewhere in New York. Wipe out New York... wipe out the Cobra. Balancing the lives of millions againt one man, no matter just how slimy, marks Hyde as quite mad indeed.
Batroc realizes that his new partner is not the most stable and switches sides to help Cap put an end to the heinous plot.
