So I do enjoy going through the independent section at my local comic book store. It's usually something different compared to super heroes. I love reading Marvel and DC but I'm always up for something new.
The only series so far that I'm interested in continuing is Hack/Slash. (Yes, it was the cover art that caught my attention.) I don't want to start with any Hellboy, Spawn, or Vampirella line because they're already well known. I like reading ones not as popular. I am reading The Walking Dead but in the graphic novel format.
Any suggestions?
(This isn't just for me, other enthusiasts who might want to look for some new independent work could look here.)

Clone from Skybound is pretty good, Red Team from Dynamite, Thief of Thieves, X-O Man-O-War & Archer & Armstrong from the new Valiant line are good, The Massive,Mara, Pathfinder & Super Dinosaur. Also if your a Star Wars fan check out the new series from Dark Horse by Brian Wood it's really good and only 2 issues in and is set between A New Hope & Empire you don't need to know anything about any of the other previous Star Wars comics you just need to have seen the movies.

Current indy books I'm reading include Mara, It Girl & the Atomics, and Mind the Gap (Image Comics), Flash Gordon and Warlord of Mars (Dynamite), Star Wars (Dark Horse), Star Trek (IDW), and pretty much everything from Aspen Comics... Legend of the Shadowclan #2 comes out tomorrow and the first issue was great. I'm also incredibly excited about Poison Elves coming out in a month or two from Ape Entertainment.

What do you consider indie? All but the big two? If so, Dark Horse has some solid stuff.

I read a lot of Image and some Dynamite. New stuff Clone, Nowhere Men, Thief of Thieves, Saga, Revival, Think Tank and Manhattan Projects. Older Image 20+ issues all ready out, Morning Glories, Chew, Invincible.
As for Dynamite I really enjoyed the Boys, Jennifer Blood and just picked Red Team but haven't gotten a chance to read that one yet.

I'm pretty behind on the newer stuff, but I can second Atomic Robo. I also enjoy Chew, Locke & Key, Mice Templar, and Sixth Gun. I really liked the first couple of Powers series', also.

And they are all pretty much stand alone stories in each volume so there isn't a need to find/read them in order.

I would recommend Idolized. It's a fairly new book, so it won't be hard to get the back issues and get caught up. It's not your average superhero book. Good art and story.

+1. Issues #0-4 are already out from Aspen. Only issue #5 left to go.

Harbinger has really surprised me. Probably one of the best books I have read.
All of the new Valiants are really good so far.

Deathmatch from BOOM! Studios.
Only up to issue 3 (4 comes out this week though) so it shouldn't be hard to catch up.

Late to this one as usual. I'd try Jennifer Blood from Dynamite. Bionic Man is a decent read as well. The latest volume of The Lone Ranger has been really great too.
