I , like most people I assume, am a big fan of books like the Walking Dead and Locke and Key, What are some good Modern horror titles, like say in the last 10 years? I read a ton of super hero stuff, but I wouldn't be able to honestly say that I enjoy them as much as I do the two previously mentioned books.

Sorry if this thread has already been discussed...

Alan Moore's Neonomicon was cool but also really messed up. Same thing with Garth Ennis' Crossed.

Yeah, I was gonna check out crossed, single issues seem pretty pricey though...I have read a lot of Ennis's stuff in the last year, full run of Preacher and the Boys, and some other small run stuff...

Actually had the first 3 issues of Alan Moore's Neonomicon sitting on my shelf and read them last night, very entertaining...

I don't know if it's being published in US or not, but there is a famous European comicbook exactly for you: Dylan Dog.

It's black and white (like almost all of the Italian titles), and the art may seem a little dull for an American reader. But I really recommend that one if you want something new and interesting.

If you like Locke & Key you should try some of the H. P. Lovecraft themed comics.

IDW - H.P. Lovecraft's The Dunwich Horror (4 issue limited series)
Avatar Press - Yuggoth Cultures and Other Growths (Alan Moore 3 issues)

There are a few others, the original short stories are incredible in their depiction of sheer terror and helplessness in the face of monstrous evil.

If you are looking for older comics I would recommend just about any EC horror title like Crypt of Terror, Haunt of Fear, Impact, Shock Suspense Stories, Tales From the Crypt, Two-Fisted Tales, Vault of Horror, Weird Fantasy, Weird Science, etc. Most of these are also easily affordable in reprints or trades.

Anything by Berni Wrightson, Master of the Macabre...
Quality. Consistency. Variety. Reliable. Fair. Friendly

The Vault, Night of 1000 Wolves, Frankenstein Alive, Alive. From Yester-year- Tomb of Dracula, Werewolf By Night, Monster of Frankenstein, Son of Satan, Brother Voodoo, & Doctor Strange (maybe not a "horror" title, but plenty of macabre stories).

I know it's probably sac-religious to say this, but I don't really enjoy reading old comics, maybe I haven't read enough, but I set out to read Incredible Hulk from the beginning through the "ESSENTIAL" books, I read all the way through book 4, but never really got into it that much, kind of cheesy and repetitive...I have found that I enjoy newer stuff much more...just my opinion

Nah, it's OK to feel that way. Check out those first couple of books I mentioned, they're pretty recent.
